The manager enables the Applications Engineering team through clear priorities and effective tools.\nIn This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:\nProvides Support to Sales Channel by:\nProviding technical assistance to the field salesperson concerning product applicability and installation practices\nPartnering with sales to identify, qualify, and advance opportunities that support profitable growth, market share expansion, and strategic account objectives\nDeveloping and participating in customer sales presentations\nDefining and coordinating special customer product modifications\nLeading the technical and commercial quality of quotations by ensuring solutions are accurate, competitive, responsive, and clearly communicate customer value\nEvaluating special proposals, quotation strategy, pricing considerations, risk, and value differentiation to improve win probability and protect profitability\nProviding an interface between the sales channel and the company\nDeveloping and conducting product and application training that strengthens the team’sability to position solutions and win business\nSupport and Develop Applications Engineering Team:\n\nContinuously reviewing and improving internal processes and communications that affect the speed, quality, consistency, and commercial effectiveness of application support\nEquipping the Applications Engineering team with effective tools, standards, data, and workflows that improve productivity, quotation quality, responsiveness, and visibility to priorities\nSetting clear performance expectations and using relevant measures-such as response time, quote quality, conversion, customer impact, and workload-to drive accountability and continuous improvement\nCoaching application engineers to connect technical recommendations to customer value, competitive differentiation, and sales outcomes\nPartnering with functional leaders to develop technical, commercial, and leadership capabilities within the team\nInterdepartmental Responsibilities: \n\nTrain and develop application engineering personnel\nManage daily workload and align resources to driving growth for the company\nAct as a liaison between sales and other internal departments\nBuild strong cross-functional partnerships with Sales, Product Management, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and other teams to remove barriers, improve execution, and deliver competitive customer solutions\nEstablish clear ownership, escalation paths, and feedback loops for complex quotations and strategic opportunities\nPromote customer and commercial awareness among all employees\nAnalyze common product problems and coordinate solutions\nFor This Role, You Will Need:\nB.S. in Engineering or a related technical field required.\n8+ years of progressive experience in engineering, marketing, technical sales, or applications engineering. \nDemonstrated commercial acumen and sales mindset, with the ability to connect technical solutions to customer value, growth opportunities, competitive differentiation, and profitable business outcomes.\nExperience developing or improving quotation processes, evaluating technical and commercial risk, and supporting strategies that increase responsiveness and win probability.\nProven ability to lead, coach, and empower technical teams through clear expectations, effective tools, scalable processes, and performance feedback.\nAbility to influence across functions and align Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Operations, and other stakeholders.\nMust be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing\nProficient in Microsoft Office and Access; SAP knowledge preferred\nAbility to handle delicate customer relationships with diplomacy\nMust be able and willing to travel within North America 10% of the year\nPreferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:\nCommercial leadership experience strongly preferred\n Experience in engineering\nOur Culture & Commitment to You:\nAt Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow.
