Working within an international, cross-functional team, you will help deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable software while contributing to a collaborative, inclusive, and continuous learning environment.\nIn This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:\nAnalyze product and system requirements and translate them into clear backend implementation tasks, collaborating with senior engineers and architects as needed.\nDesign, develop, document, and maintain backend services, REST APIs, business logic, and system integrations using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core.\nImplement data access solutions for relational and document databases in alignment with established architecture and engineering standards.\nDevelop service-based solutions, including asynchronous communication and message processing capabilities.\nImplement authentication, authorization, validation, error handling, logging, and other security and reliability controls.\nCreate and maintain automated unit and integration tests.\nInvestigate defects, troubleshoot application issues, and contribute to root-cause analysis and resolution activities.\nSupport improvements to system performance, reliability, maintainability, and observability.\nUtilize CI/CD pipelines and containerized development environments while supporting release and deployment activities.\nParticipate in code reviews, design discussions, technical refinement sessions, and estimation activities.\nContribute to backlog refinement by clarifying requirements, identifying edge cases, assessing feasibility, and helping break down features into implementable tasks.\nParticipate in Program Increment planning and cross-team coordination activities through technical input, estimation, dependency management, and risk assessment.\nIdentify implementation risks, dependencies, and integration challenges and communicate them effectively to stakeholders.\nCollaborate closely with Product Management, frontend developers, test engineers, architects, DevOps engineers, and cybersecurity specialists throughout the software development lifecycle.\nContribute to technical documentation, API specifications, engineering standards, developer tools, and continuous improvement initiatives.\nPerform other responsibilities aligned with the scope of the role.\nWho You Are:\nYou build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives. You seek opportunities to learn, apply new knowledge, and continuously improve both your own effectiveness and the solutions you help create.\nFor This Role, You Will Need:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.\nMin 3 years if professional experience developing backend software solutions.\nPractical knowledge of C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core, and backend service development.\nUnderstanding of object-oriented programming, asynchronous programming, dependency injection, configuration management, validation, and exception handling.\nExperience designing, implementing, and consuming REST APIs.\nExperience with Entity Framework Core or comparable data access technologies.\nExperience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or SQL Server.\nExposure to microservices, asynchronous messaging, or message brokers such as RabbitMQ.\nUnderstanding of authentication, authorization, secure coding practices, and common API security principles.\nExperience creating automated unit and integration tests.\nExperience with application logging, debugging, and production support activities.\nFamiliarity with Git, code review practices, package management, build tooling, and CI/CD concepts.\nAbility to understand existing software designs and develop maintainable, well-documented code.\nExperience working in Agile development environments and participating in backlog refinement, estimation, planning, reviews, and retrospectives.\nUnderstanding of Agile quality practices and continuous improvement principles.\nAbility to contribute to cross-team planning activities, including dependency identification, technical planning, and risk assessment.\nEnglish communication skills that enable effective collaboration in a global team environment.\nPreferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:\nExperience with MongoDB or other document database technologies.\nExperience using Docker and containerized development environments.\nFamiliarity with microservice patterns, API gateways, distributed caching, resiliency techniques, and fault-tolerant architectures.\nKnowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, or similar identity and access management technologies.\nFamiliarity with modern software design patterns and architectural principles.\nExperience with SignalR, WebSockets, gRPC, or comparable communication technologies.\nExposure to observability practices, including metrics, health checks, distributed tracing, and OpenTelemetry.\nFamiliarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.\nExperience developing industrial software, connected-device solutions, edge computing applications, or software supporting critical infrastructure.\nAwareness of Secure Development Lifecycle practices, threat modeling, vulnerability management, and software supply chain security.\nFamiliarity with SAFe or other scaled Agile frameworks.\nExperience using AI-assisted development tools responsibly while maintaining security, confidentiality, code quality, and intellectual property protection.\nOur Culture and Commitment To You:\nAt Emerson, we believe diverse perspectives drive stronger innovation and better outcomes.
