The primary responsibility of this position is to attend events where recruits are participating and identify, engage and recruit qualified student-athletes who fit both the profile of Emerson and the needs of the team. The Assistant Coach will be responsible for developing student-athletes, scouting teams, breaking down game film and assisting in the organization and facilitation of practice and games.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES\nAssists with all aspects of the recruitment and retention of a diverse set of prospective student athletes such as prospect evaluation, prospect selection, and on campus visits.\nAssists head coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team training and match competition.\nAssists in the identification and recruitment of potential student-athletes for the Emerson intercollegiate sports program, in accordance with NCAA rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards.\nLeads, monitors, and coordinates training and practice sessions, ensuring that all appropriate safety guidelines and standards are maintained.\nProvides day-to-day guidance, assistance, and support to other assistant coaches on coaching training sessions and techniques of individual players.\nAids in the coordination and administration of the overall program, as required.\nRepresents Emerson College and the athletic department at various institutional programs and externally to the media, students, parents, and the general public.\nAssists with coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop players technical ability and team tactical solutions.\nAnalyzes the performance of our team, individual players and our opponents. \nProvides leadership and instruction to improve the team and the individual player.\nMentors student-athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional and social growth.\nMonitors the progress of prospective players during the application process.\nAssists in coordinating and organizing potential player on-campus visits.\nPerforms miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.\nQUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.\nBachelor's Degree preferred\nA minimum of 2 years of coaching experience at the post-secondary level and/or professional competitive experience\nA valid driver’s license\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.\nDemonstrated knowledge of technical skills and tactical strategy and the ability to effectively teach them and communicate with players.\nWorking knowledge of NCAA and NEWMAC rules and an understanding of the philosophy behind them.\nThe coach must be self-directed, motivated and able to work independently and under pressure.\nCommitment to being a positive member of the Athletics Department, the College community and the ability to influence the athletes to do the same.\nPHYSICAL ABILITIES - Activities commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
