As a global leader in automation, our Analytical Instruments organization develops advanced technologies and solutions that safeguard industries and keep critical systems running.\nJoin our Liquid Analysis team in Shakopee, MN, as a Senior Embedded Software Test Engineer - where you'll work on testing new and legacy products for process analytical equipment that protects water quality, supports life sciences, strengthens industrial safety, and serves industries worldwide.\nIf you enjoy software, automation, and understanding how complex systems really behave, this is an opportunity to help build the test capabilities behind our next generation of products and work side-by-side with development to engineer quality into the product from the beginning - become part of a team that’s growing, learning, and focused on delivering results!\nIN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL:\nDesign, develop, and maintain automated test systems, frameworks, and tools for embedded products and software.\nDevelop automated integration, system, regression, and verification tests, while supporting hands-on manual testing when needed.\nPartner with software, systems, hardware, and test engineers to build alignment, clarify requirements and risks, and develop effective test solutions with meaningful test coverage.\nBuild test capabilities for embedded communications, networking, hardware interfaces, and complex system behaviors.\nTroubleshoot product and test-system failures using debugging, instrumentation, logs, data analysis, and root-cause analysis.\nFollow and help strengthen established test engineering practices aligned with our SDLA and IEC 62443-4-1, including requirements traceability, reviews, documentation, cybersecurity testing, and objective test evidence.\nContribute to the test strategy and breakdown of verification work, helping define what to test, how to test it, and how testing can be automated effectively.\nExplore and apply AI, automation technologies, and engineering tools to improve test coverage, efficiency, maintainability, and problem-solving.\nWHO YOU ARE: You take on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks. You admit mistakes and gain insight from experiences.\nFOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:\nBachelor's degree in Engineering or Science from an engineering school\n5+ years of applicable experience\nExperience and interest in testing embedded systems, microcontrollers, hardware/software interfaces, and real-time systems.\nAuthorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future Individuals with temporary visas such as E, F-1 (including those with OPT or CPT), H-1, H-2, L-1, B, J or TN, or who need sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, are not eligible for hire.\n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; ABET-accredited engineering degree preferred \nStrong Python and C# programming skills, with experience building maintainable test automation software.\nHands-on experience developing automated test frameworks, tools, and reusable test libraries for embedded products.\nExperience testing embedded systems, microcontrollers, hardware/software interfaces, and real-time systems.\nExperience integrating automated testing into CI/CD or continuous integration environments.\nExperience with Ethernet/TCP-IP, serial interfaces, and industrial communication protocols.\nExperience with requirements-based verification, traceability, and secure software development lifecycle practices.\nExperience designing or integrating test fixtures, instrumentation, data acquisition, or hardware-in-the-loop test systems.\nExperience leading test automation or verification efforts, including developing test strategies and breaking complex verification work into executable test activities.\nExperience applying AI-assisted engineering tools to test development, test generation, failure analysis, or engineering productivity.\nStrong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and technical communication skills\nOur Culture & Commitment to You:\nAt Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow.
