In this role, you will provide EMC design guidance throughout the product development lifecycle, support testing and certification activities, troubleshoot compliance challenges, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams. You will also contribute to broader Hardware Design Verification Testing (DVT), including signal integrity, power delivery, and functional performance validation of advanced electronic systems.\nIn This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:\nDevelop and implement EMC/EMI compliance strategies for new products. Support product development teams with EMC design reviews and best practices. Apply Design for Compliance principles: Review schematic diagrams, PCB layouts (stackups, ground planes, high-speed traces), and mechanical enclosure designs early in the R&D cycle to prevent EMI/EMC issues.\nSupport the Design Verification Team in terms of EMI / EMC pre-compliance testing. Maintain and evolve our on-site pre-compliance laboratory with respect to instruments, capabilities, processes and automation. Conduct on-site pre-compliance EMI / EMC campaigns.\nPrepare EMC test plans, reports, and technical documentation. Prepare test setups and Devices under Test (Prototypes). Coordinate testing with accredited external laboratories and oversee official certification testing.\nAnalyze EMC test failures and perform root cause analysis. Recommend and implement corrective actions to achieve compliance.\nEnsure compliance with international standards such as: IEC 61000 series, CISPR standards, EN 55032 / EN 55035, FCC Part 15, MIL-STD-461 (where applicable), also automotive standards (ISO 11452, CISPR 25, UNECE R10) where applicable.\nPerform bench testing on high-speed interfaces (PCIe, Ethernet, USB, CAN, RS-485) and power rails (ripple, load transient response, power-on sequencing etc.). Assist hardware engineers during initial prototype board bring-up and functional verification. Conduct design validation across extreme conditions (e.g. temperature / voltage corner testing).\nSupport CE, UKCA, FCC, and other regulatory certification processes. Maintain awareness of evolving EMC regulations and standards. \nSupport customer audits and regulatory inspections when required.\nWho You Are:\nYou anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders while focusing on achieving sustainable outcomes. You continuously seek opportunities to improve processes, expand your expertise, and drive technical excellence.\nFor This Role, You Will Need:\nDegree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.\nExperience in EMC/EMI engineering, product compliance, or a closely related discipline.\nStrong knowledge of electromagnetic theory, EMC principles, and compliance methodologies.\nHands-On Experience using EMC test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, EMI receivers, oscilloscopes, signal generators, current probes, LISNs, near-field probes.\nExperience planning, coordinating, and supporting EMC testing with accredited laboratories.\nKnowledge of international EMC regulations and certification requirements with the ability to interpret and apply standards during product development.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.\nAbility to communicate effectively with global teams, customers, certification bodies, and external partners.\nProfessional proficiency in English, both written and verbal.\nAbility to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.\nPreferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:\nExperience supporting products within the automotive, aerospace, industrial automation, or medical technology sectors.\nUnderstanding of x86 and/or ARM-based computing architectures.\nKnowledge of CE, UKCA, FCC, and related product certification processes.\nFamiliarity with Signal Integrity (SI), Power Integrity (PI), or EMC simulation tools.\nKnowledge of electrical safety standards such as IEC 62368-1 and IEC 60601-1.\nAwareness of functional safety standards, including ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.\nGerman language skills.\nOur Culture & Commitment To You\nAt Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow.
