As a global leader in automation, our Analytical Instruments organization develops advanced technologies and solutions that safeguard industries and keep critical systems running.\nJoin our Liquid Analysis team in Shakopee, MN, as a Principal Embedded Software Engineer, where you'll focus primarily on new product development while also supporting sustaining engineering for process analytical equipment that protects water quality, supports life sciences, strengthens industrial safety, and serves industries worldwide.\nIf solving complex engineering problems with software excites you, this is an opportunity to help shape the architecture and technical foundation for an important new generation of product - become part of a team that’s growing, learning, and focused on delivering results!\nIN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL:\nLead the architecture, design, and development of embedded software for new products and major product enhancements. \nSolve complex embedded software and hardware/software integration challenges, staying hands-on with development, debugging, and system integration. \nLead complex software efforts from concept through completion, breaking down technical work, coordinating execution, managing dependencies and risks, and helping the team deliver results.\nProvide approachable, collaborative technical leadership and mentoring, helping engineers solve difficult problems and grow their capabilities.\nPartner with engineering leadership and global, cross-functional teams to build alignment, make sound technical decisions, and move complex work forward.\nDrive disciplined engineering practices aligned with our SDLA and IEC 62443-4-1, including requirements, design, cybersecurity, implementation, testing, reviews, documentation, and release.\nDefine and improve software architectures, interfaces, development approaches, and testability across products and platforms. \nLead meaningful technical and peer reviews that improve software quality and engineering outcomes. \nExplore and apply new technologies, tools, and approaches that advance our products and software engineering capabilities.\nWHO YOU ARE: You take on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks. You admit mistakes and gain insight from experiences.\nFOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:\nBachelor's degree in engineering or science\n8 years of embedded software development \nDemonstrated technical leadership of complex embedded software development, including architecture, design, work breakdown, and mentoring.\nAuthorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the futureIndividuals with temporary visas such as E, F-1 (including those with OPT or CPT), H-1, H-2, L-1, B, J or TN, or who need sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, are not eligible for hire. \n\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU APART:\nBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; ABET-accredited engineering degree preferred\nDeep knowledge of real-time, multi-threaded embedded systems and microcontroller-based products\nStrong proficiency in C/C++, with expertise in modular embedded software architecture, object-oriented design, design patterns, and UML\nHands-on experience with embedded Ethernet and TCP/IP networking, including industrial Ethernet protocols and stacks such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and PROFINET\nWorking knowledge of embedded communication interfaces and industrial protocols such as CAN, SPI, UART/SCI, I²C, HART, Modbus, and PROFIBUS\nDemonstrated success solving complex embedded software and system-level technical problems\nExperience with secure software development lifecycle practices; familiarity with IEC 62443-4-1 or similar product cybersecurity standards preferred\nAbility to clearly communicate complex technical designs, decisions, and tradeoffs \nExperience applying AI-assisted engineering tools and approaches to improve software development, testing, debugging, and engineering productivity\nDemonstrated experience leading complex software efforts, including architecture and design decisions, technical planning and work breakdown, coordinating work across engineers, and mentoring others.\nOur Culture & Commitment to You:\nOur compensation philosophy is simple: we pay a competitive base salary, within the local market in which we operate, and reward performance during our annual merit review process.
