This position is an excellent opportunity for students looking to gain hands-on experience in construction estimating while balancing their academic commitments. As a part-time student worker, you will work alongside experienced estimators, learn valuable skills, and contribute to the success of our project bids.\nKey Responsibilities\nAssist with Cost Estimates: Support the estimating team in reviewing project plans, specifications, and other documents to help determine scope of work and costs.\n\nBid Proposal Support: Help preform takeoffs prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for construction projects under supervision.\n\nCross-Team Collaboration: Work with other departments and stakeholders to ensure estimates are accurate and complete.\n\nCost Monitoring: Assist in tracking and analyzing project costs, and help flag potential cost overruns.\n\nCommunication: Communicate regularly with crew members, subcontractors, and team members to support project schedules and budgets.\n\nFollow Safety Protocols: Understand and adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, including wearing protective gear as required when performing site visits.\n\nLearn and Develop Skills: Take advantage of on-the-job learning opportunities to build estimating knowledge and skills, including exposure to estimating software.\n\nQualifications\nCurrently enrolled in a university program, college, or technical school in engineering, construction management, or a related field.\n\nStrong work ethic, willingness to learn, and attention to detail.\n\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to follow instructions and work as part of a team.\n\nBasic knowledge of construction or estimating concepts is a plus but not required.\n\nPunctuality and reliability are essential.\n\nFamiliarity with estimating software (e.g. InEight, HeavyBid, HCSS, Bid2Win, Agtek, Planswift, Bluebeam) is a plus but not required.\n\nDuration\nTypically May-August\nCompensation\nCompetitive hourly wage commensurate with experience and qualifications.\n\nOpportunity for skill development and advancement within the company.\n\nEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities\nThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
