This role is hands-on and laboratory-intensive, requiring deep expertise in analytical techniques, method development, and problem-solving in a chemical manufacturing environment.\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in new product development, product performance troubleshooting, and analytical support for both internal stakeholders and external customers. This position requires strong technical ownership, independent execution, and regular collaboration with R&D, Manufacturing, Sales, and customers.\nKey Responsibilities\nPerform advanced analytical testing in support of R&D, product development, and manufacturing for fatty acids, specialty esters, and related oleochemicals.\nIndependently operate and interpret data from analytical instrumentation including GC-MS, HPLC, NMR, titration methods, and thermal analysis techniques.\nDevelop, validate, and optimize analytical methods for routine analysis, trace impurity detection, and performance characterization.\nLead analytical investigations to resolve product performance issues, nonconformances, and customer technical inquiries.\nProvide technical and analytical support for new product launches, scale-up activities, and formulation optimization.\nInterpret analytical data to understand structure-property relationships and their impact on product performance.\nInterface directly with internal teams (Manufacturing, Quality, Sales, Regulatory) and external customers to communicate results and technical recommendations.\nMaintain laboratory documentation, calibration/maintenance of analytical equipment, and compliance with internal quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives related to analytical methods, laboratory efficiency, and product understanding.\nRequired Technical Skills & Expertise\nHands-on experience with GC-MS, HPLC, NMR, titration techniques, and thermal analysis.\nStrong background in analytical method development, validation, and trace analysis.\nDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex analytical and product performance challenges independently.\nExcellent problem-solving skills with the ability to translate analytical data into actionable conclusions.\nAbility to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.\nPreferred Technical Background\nExperience with ICP-OES method development in difficult matrices\nFamiliarity with oleochemicals, fatty acids, esters, surfactants, or related specialty chemical products.\nExperience supporting chemical manufacturing or pilot-scale operations.\nPrior experience providing customer-facing technical or analytical support.\nEducation & Experience Requirements\nDegree in Analytical Chemistry strongly preferred.\nMS or PhD in Chemistry preferred.\nBS in Chemistry with 5-10 years of relevant industrial experience, or\nMS or PhD with 3-5 years of industrial or applied research experience.\nWork Environment\nLaboratory-based role within a chemical manufacturing and R&D environment.\nRegular interaction with pilot plants, manufacturing teams, and commercial stakeholders.\nRequires adherence to laboratory safety practices and use of appropriate PPE.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3574,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"phd","optional":true},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-25T17:41:29Z"}],"liveness":{"score":55,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.731,"p_room":0.75,"age_days":34,"expected_fill_days":40,"reasons":["conf:6","win:late"],"computed_at":"2026-09-29T05:45:00Z"},"pay":{"stated_usd_annual":95000,"is_top_pay":false},"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/emeryoleo-analytical-chemist","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/emeryoleo-analytical-chemist.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-30T02:45:19Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":1958,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":3042,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-01T00:00:00Z"}}}
