below:\n\nJob Title: Accountant \n\nLocation: Awkwuzu-Igbariam, Awka - Anambra\n\nEmployment Type: Full-time\n\nResumption: Immediate resumption preferred\n\nAbout the Role\n\nThis position requires a professional who can work independently, maintain strong internal controls, identify financial discrepancies, and ensure accountability across the company's operational and financial activities.\nWe are seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and commercially minded Accountant to oversee the company's accounting operations in a palm kernel crushing and processing plant.\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring production costs, managing inventory accounting, reconciling supplier and customer accounts, tracking cash flow, and preparing timely financial reports to support management decisions.\nThe ideal candidate must understand the relationship between manufacturing operations and financial performance, particularly in raw material procurement, processing costs, production output, stock management, sales, and profitability.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nFinancial Accounting and Bookkeeping:\n\nReview transactions for accuracy, completeness, proper classification, and authorisation.\nRecord and classify all financial transactions in accordance with established accounting procedures.\nEnsure all transactions are supported by appropriate invoices, receipts, payment vouchers, purchase orders, and approval documents.\nReconcile accounting records regularly and investigate discrepancies.\nMaintain accurate and up-to-date books of accounts, including general ledgers, journals, cashbooks, and subsidiary records.\nEnsure that financial records are complete, accurate, and readily available for management review and audit.\nMaintain an organised filing system for financial records and supporting documentation.\n\nManufacturing Cost Accounting:\n\nPrepare production cost reports and highlight significant cost variations.\nWork closely with the production and operations teams to obtain reliable production figures for cost analysis.\nMonitor actual production costs against budgets, historical performance, and approved cost benchmarks.\nIdentify opportunities to reduce production costs, minimise waste, and improve operational profitability.\nAnalyse the relationship between raw materials consumed, production output, processing losses, and finished products obtained.\nMonitor and analyse the costs associated with palm kernel crushing and processing operations.\nCalculate and monitor production costs per tonne of raw materials processed and per tonne of finished products produced.\nTrack raw material costs, processing expenses, labour costs, energy consumption, maintenance expenses, packaging costs, and other relevant production costs.\n\nInventory and Stock Accounting:\n\nMonitor stock losses, processing losses, wastage, and unexplained shortages.\nTrack raw material purchases, quantities received, quantities processed, and closing balances.\nMonitor the receipt, storage, issuance, transfer, and dispatch of stock.\nSupport periodic and year-end stock counts and prepare reconciliation reports.\nMaintain accurate accounting records for raw materials, work-in-progress, finished products, spare parts, consumables, and other inventory items.\nReconcile physical stock counts with inventory records and investigate discrepancies.\nReconcile production output with finished goods inventory and sales or dispatch records.\nWork with warehouse and production personnel to ensure that all stock movements are properly documented and authorised.\n\nRaw Material Procurement and Supplier Account Management:\n\nReconcile quantities purchased and received against supplier invoices and approved purchase terms.\nPrepare supplier payment schedules and submit them for management approval.\nInvestigate discrepancies between supplier statements, company records, delivery quantities, and payments made.\nMonitor supplier balances, outstanding invoices, payment due dates, and credit terms.\nVerify supplier invoices, purchase orders, delivery notes, weighing records, and other procurement documents before payment processing.\nEnsure that payments are made only against properly verified and authorised transactions.\nTrack payments to palm kernel suppliers, transporters, and other vendors.\nMaintain accurate records of raw material purchases, including quantities, unit prices, transportation costs, and other associated charges.\n\nSales, Revenue, and Receivables Management:\n\nReconcile customer accounts and investigate differences between company records and customer statements.\nMonitor sales prices, discounts, credit terms, and other commercial arrangements against approved conditions.\nMaintain accurate customer account records and monitor outstanding receivables.\nEnsure that all sales and collections are properly recorded and accounted for.\nReconcile quantities produced, quantities dispatched, quantities invoiced, and revenue recognised.\nFollow up on overdue customer payments and provide regular receivables reports to management.\nVerify sales invoices, delivery notes, dispatch records, and customer payment receipts.\nRecord and monitor sales of finished products and by-products, as applicable, including palm kernel oil, palm kernel cake, and other plant outputs.\n\nCash Flow and Treasury Management:\n\nTrack operational expenses and flag unusual, excessive, unsupported, or unauthorised expenditure.\nSupport management in planning cash requirements for raw material purchases, production operations, salaries, and other business obligations.\nMaintain accurate records of cash inflows, cash outflows, bank transactions, and approved expenditures.\nEnsure that all payments have the necessary supporting documentation and approval.\nPrepare payment schedules, cash flow forecasts, and expenditure summaries.\nMonitor outstanding advances, staff expense retirements, and other financial obligations.\nPerform regular bank reconciliations and investigate unidentified transactions.\nMonitor daily cash balances and prepare cash position reports.\n\nFinancial Reporting and Management Information:\n\nAnalyse financial performance and identify material variances against budgets or previous periods.\nPrepare monthly profit and loss statements, balance sheet schedules, cash flow reports, and other relevant financial statements.\nPrepare financial summaries that connect production performance with the plant's financial results.\nEnsure that reports are submitted within agreed deadlines and supported by verifiable records.\nProduce reports on revenue, production costs, inventory values, operating expenses, supplier balances, customer receivables, and profitability.\nPrepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports as required by management.\nProvide management with timely, accurate, and relevant financial information for decision-making.\n\nBudgeting and Financial Planning:\n\nMonitor actual expenditure against approved budgets.\nProvide financial analysis to support purchasing decisions, production planning, pricing, and investment decisions.\nAssist management in preparing annual budgets and periodic operational budgets.\nAssist with cash flow projections and working capital planning.\nIdentify cost overruns, unusual spending patterns, and opportunities for improved cost efficiency.\nRecommend practical measures to improve cost control and resource utilisation.\n\nInternal Controls, Audit, and Compliance:\n\nLiaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and relevant regulatory authorities when authorised.\nSupport internal and external audits by providing accurate records and relevant schedules.\nReview financial documents for signs of duplication, irregularities, incomplete records, or potential fraud.\nEstablish and maintain appropriate accounting controls in line with company policies and procedures.\nPromptly escalate suspected fraud, unexplained financial losses, stock discrepancies, and control weaknesses to management.\nMonitor compliance with established procedures for procurement, inventory management, sales, payments, and expense approvals.\nEnsure compliance with applicable tax, statutory reporting, and financial record-keeping requirements.\nEnsure segregation of duties and proper authorisation of financial transactions.\n\nTax and Statutory Responsibilities:\n\nAssist in preparing relevant tax schedules and supporting documentation.\nSupport the preparation and reconciliation of VAT, withholding tax, PAYE, and other applicable tax liabilities.\nEnsure that tax-related transactions are accurately recorded and properly documented.\nMaintain accurate records required for applicable tax filings and statutory obligations.\nMonitor relevant filing and payment deadlines and coordinate with authorised tax advisers where necessary.\n\nFixed Assets and General Financial Administration:\n\nAssist with depreciation schedules, asset verification, and reconciliation of physical assets with accounting records.\nMonitor capital expenditure and ensure that asset purchases are properly authorised and recorded.\nTrack plant machinery, equipment, vehicles, tools, and other company assets.\nMaintain the fixed asset register and supporting documentation.\nMaintain accurate records of insurance, maintenance-related expenditure, and other relevant asset costs.\n\nTeam Collaboration and Accountability:\n\nMaintain confidentiality, professional integrity, and accountability in all financial activities.\nPerform other finance and accounting duties reasonably assigned by management.\nFollow up on missing documentation, pending reconciliations, and unresolved financial discrepancies.\nEnsure that relevant departments submit accurate and timely financial and operational records.\nWork closely with management, procurement, production, warehouse, sales, and administrative personnel.\n\nQualifications and Requirements\n\nProfessional accounting qualification or progress towards ICAN, ACCA, or an equivalent recognised qualification is an advantage.\nUnderstanding of manufacturing cost structures, raw material consumption, production yields, and stock reconciliation.\nMinimum of 5 years' relevant accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing, processing, agricultural commodities, or industrial production environment.\nStrong numerical, analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.\nHigh level of integrity, attention to detail, and professional discretion.\nAbility to work independently and meet reporting deadlines.\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.\nAbility to analyse financial information and identify discrepancies or unusual cost movements.\nWillingness to work on-site in Igbarim, Awka, Anambra State.\nPractical knowledge of bookkeeping, financial reporting, bank reconciliation, inventory accounting, and cost accounting.\nB.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Accountancy, or a related discipline.\n\nRemuneration and Benefits\n\nOpportunity to contribute directly to the financial control and operational performance
