This role ensures all clinical nursing units are adequately staffed by assigning available staffing resources across care areas according to patient census and approved staffing guidelines, while maximizing the delivery of safe, quality care and minimizing the cost of patient care services.\nKey Responsibilities\nProvide continuous monitoring of staff resources using computerized scheduling software, unit requests, and feedback from Unit Directors, Charge Nurses, and Administrative Supervisors\nParticipate in bed meeting huddles each shift to understand staffing needs\nPrepare, troubleshoot, and resolve daily and future staffing/scheduling matters to maintain staffing guidelines\nPlan, organize, and prioritize tasks and schedules to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment\nCollaborate with Unit Directors, Administrative Nursing Supervisors (or designees), and Charge Nurses to maintain schedule coordination for each unit/department\nPrepare and distribute reports for analysis of productivity, overtime, sick leave, unscheduled call-ins, and low census\nCommunicate staffing issues to appropriate Leadership\nWork with the Nursing Supervisor and/or Unit Director/Charge Nurse to adjust staffing according to pre-determined guidelines\nWork continuously with available staff to fill open shifts and balance existing work schedules\nReceive and log telephone calls from staff unable to fulfill staffing commitments; record and communicate information to appropriate parties in a timely manner\nWork with available contingency staff and Managers to fill staffing vacancies\nServe as super user for scheduling software; assist unit staff with software-based issues\nAssist with orientation of new Scheduling staff members on software\nEnsure hospital staff shift assignments are accurately captured in the hospital's staff scheduling system\nUtilize down-time procedures appropriately\nPerform other duties as assigned or needed\nCommunication Skills\nDemonstrates effective communication skills and the ability to work with others to support patient care units/departments\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. College Degree in healthcare or business preferred. Experience in a hospital environment and in clinical service support functions required. Must have experience with computers with high degree of accuracy. Applies effective problem-solving skills Prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment and demonstrate a sense of urgency as appropriate. Ability to pay attention to details resulting in thorough follow through.
