In this in-office role, you’ll wear multiple hats: owning our NYC office experience, driving overall employee experience, and supporting local and remote engagement programs. You’ll be the go-to person for all things office-related, while also playing a hands-on role in employee experience, culture-building activities, and administrative HR tasks.\nThis is a unique opportunity for someone early in their career who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and is excited to take ownership of core workplace operations and people coordination for a distributed US team, with NYC as our hub.\nThis is a highly hands-on role for someone who loves making things run smoothly, notices the details others might miss, and takes real ownership from start to finish. You’ll work closely with the People Operations team and partner across Finance, IT, leadership, and other teams to create a seamless and engaging workplace experience.\nIn this role, you will\nLead the day-to-day operations of our NYC office, ensuring the workplace runs smoothly, efficiently, and is always welcoming and ready for our team.\nServe as the go-to person for employees and visitors for office-related needs, questions, and requests.\nManage workplace logistics, including supplies, deliveries, mail and shipping, food and office services, meeting spaces, and general facilities needs.\nOwn relationships with office vendors and service providers, including coordination, contracts, follow-ups, invoicing, and ensuring a high standard of service.\nPartner with building management and relevant vendors on maintenance, repairs, access, and ongoing facilities needs.\nHelp manage the office budget and expenses, keeping spend organized, tracked, and aligned with company guidelines.\nOwn the experience for visitors and employees traveling to our NYC HQ, coordinating office logistics and helping ensure a seamless experience while they’re onsite.\nPlan and execute creative and unique in-office events, celebrations, team gatherings, and employee moments that strengthen connection and make Empathy a great place to work.\nLead design of engagement programs and virtual moments that include our remote employees.\nLead the operational and logistical execution of larger company events, leadership meetings, offsites, and other special moments hosted in New York.\nPartner with People Operations and IT to support smooth onboarding and offboarding experiences, including workplace readiness for new hires.\nManage office communications and keep employees informed about relevant workplace updates, events, and changes.\nBuild and improve office processes, documentation, and routines as the company continues to grow.\nProactively identify issues and opportunities for improvement - and take ownership of solving them before they become problems.\nTake on ad-hoc workplace and operational projects, with a strong bias toward action and end-to-end ownership.\nRequirements\nWhat we’re looking for\n2-4 years of experience in office management, workplace experience, employee experience, hospitality, events, or a similar hands-on operational role, ideally in a fast-paced startup environment.\nExcited to be in our NYC office 5 days a week\nExceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, stay ahead of needs, and follow through from start to finish.\nA true self-starter with a proactive mindset - you spot what needs attention, take initiative, and don’t wait to be asked.\nA high level of customer service and strong people skills. You genuinely enjoy creating great experiences for others and see feedback as an opportunity to learn, improve, and raise the bar.\nA proactive and creative approach to workplace and employee experience - from building engaging event calendars and introducing new traditions to finding unique ways to connect and engage both in-person and remote employees.\nStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence and professionalism to work with employees, leadership, vendors, and external guests.\nExperience managing vendors and external partners, with the ability to build strong relationships while ensuring high standards of service.\nComfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities can shift quickly, while staying calm, resourceful, and solution-oriented.\nBackground or experience in events, production, hospitality, or sales is a plus - especially if it has helped you develop strong execution and service skills.\nProficiency with Google Workspace, including Docs, Sheets, Calendar, and Gmail.\nThe salary for this position ranges between $66,300 - $75,000. This is decided based on many factors, including but not limited to: skills, qualifications, and geographic location.
