# Cook

JOB PURPOSE: The cook supports the kitchen manager in preparing, cooking, and serving nutritious meals for shelter residents. This role ensures food is prepared safely, the kitchen is kept clean and sanitary, and meals are delivered on time to shelter sites. The cook works as part of a team to provide dignified, high-quality meal service to residents. Qualifications ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with preparing, cooking, and portioning meals according to planned menus. Set up serving areas and help distribute meals to residents. Ensure meals are served at appropriate temperatures and portion sizes. Assist with packing and delivering meals to shelter site, when needed. Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, dining, and food storage areas. Wash dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment promptly. Properly store leftovers and label food according to safety standards. Assist the kitchen manager with inventory, deliveries, and stocking supplies.
