We’re known for combining academic excellence with hands-on learning, and we take pride in fostering a supportive environment for both students and employees.\nWorking at Endicott means joining a close-knit campus community where your contributions matter and where collaboration, creativity, and professional growth are valued.\nTo learn more about our employee benefits click here.\nKey Responsibilities\nSupervise and lead the daily operations of the carpentry shop, including assigning work, scheduling staff, and ensuring quality workmanship.\nMaintain and repair campus facilities by overseeing and performing skilled carpentry work for academic, residential, and administrative buildings.\nPlan and coordinate projects, including estimating labor and materials, prioritizing work orders, and collaborating with other Facilities Management administration, trades and campus departments.\nEnsure a safe work environment by enforcing OSHA regulations, College safety policies, and applicable building codes.\nManage shop operations, including inventory, tools, equipment, and maintenance records.\nProvide excellent customer service by promptly responding to maintenance requests and communicating effectively with faculty, staff, students, and contractors.\nObtain quotes, coordinate with, and oversee outside contractors as necessary.\nSupport emergency response and campus operations, including after-hours emergencies, severe weather, snow removal, and special projects.\nParticipates in the on-call policy.\nPerforms other duties as needed to meet the needs and goals of the department and College.\nCommunity Engagement\nBe an active participant in the life of the College by attending and supporting key events like Commencement, Homecoming, and all other hands-on-deck gatherings. Show spirit of collaboration and community involvement, including volunteering when possible.\nReporting Structure\nReports to the Associate Vice President of Facilities Operations\nSupervisory Responsibilities\nSupervisory responsibilities - 3 Carpenters and a Locksmith\nCore Competencies\nReliability: able to get the job done, available and engaged with the job and the Endicott community.\nOrganization: organizes time and resources well so that work is done efficiently and on time.\nCommunication Skills: has clear, effective and efficient ways of communicating, both orally and in writing.\nResourceful: a problem solver who can make informed decisions and can juggle multiple projects.\nAdaptability: exhibit a willingness to implement innovative ideas while accommodating change during fluid and evolving circumstances.\nFollow Through: takes ownership of projects and sees them through fruition.\nCustomer Service: anticipates the needs and responds to queries in a timely, competent, and approachable manner.\nInitiative/Personal Leadership: identifies opportunities for improvement and actively contributes to solutions.\nTeam Player: shows a willingness to collaborate and share information, knowledge and experience with team members.\nQualifications and Skills\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent.\nUnrestricted Construction Supervisor License (CSL).\nOSHA 10 or 30 Hours certifications.\nTypically 8-10 or more years of progressively responsible experience in commercial, institutional, or facilities carpentry.\nDemonstrated knowledge of building construction methods, finish carpentry, cabinetry, framing, doors, drywall, hardware, and related building systems.\nAbility to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents.\nExperience estimating materials, labor, and project costs.\nProficiency using standard carpentry tools and woodworking equipment.\nStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.\nMust be computer literate and familiar with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).\nMust provide proof of valid Mass driver's license and DOT medical form annually.\nIn compliance with Massachusetts pay transparency law, the hourly pay range for this position is $37 - $50.00per hour. Endicott College considers factors such as (but not limited to) job responsibilities, relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and external market data when determining pay. The final hourly rate is determined by the Human Resources Office based on these factors.
