Senior Civil Engineer

Your Impact as a Senior Civil Engineer:

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will provide subject-matter-expertise supporting the Geotechnical, Civil, and Structural aspects of energy storage, generation, and data center projects throughout all phases of project development. You will be responsible for earthworks, drainage infrastructure, shallow and deep foundations, and structural connections to electrical equipment. You will collaborate closely with other disciplines within the Energy Vault engineering team and with the broader execution group.

In pre-construction you will provide input to support execution planning, project estimating, concept-level site design, and external Engineer of Record (EoR) scoping and selection. Through engineering design you will support design management, design review, and value engineering. During construction you will review Subcontractor Submittals, RFIs, and NCRs. You will also provide regular site presence in support of QA/QC. Initially the jobsites are expected to be primarily in Texas, and periods of site presence will need to extend to multiple days at a time where you work closely with Energy Vault Construction Management teams. At project close-out you will be responsible for ensuring accurate as-built records and quality documents for Civil elements are produced and recorded.

Beyond day-to-day support of high quality and timely project execution, you will work to support continuous improvement and innovation in pursuit of “best-in-class” delivery.

Your Mission:

• On the Owner/EPC side, lead the delivery of safe and efficient design of Geotechnical, Civil, and Structural aspects of energy projects.
• In pre-construction you will:
  • Provide input to support execution planning, project estimating, concept-level site design, and external Engineer of Record (EoR) scoping and selection.
  • Assess each project site civil engineering aspects, identifying unique engineering challenges for each and proposing engineering mitigation approaches to address these challenges.
  • Characterize the foundation conditions from a design perspective and identify suitable foundation solutions.
  • Support development of concept-level site layout drawings for the location of all temporary and permanent features, routing of critical infrastructure (power, telecom, water, wastewater), transformers, switchyards, access roads, parking lots and any other required facilities.
  • Develop Scope of Work documents for Geotech, Civil, and Structural portions of projects.
  • Provide technical review of Consultant and Contractor bids.
  • Through engineering design you will:
    • Support design management of Engineer of Record design, design review, and value engineering.
    • During construction you will:
      • Review Contractor/Subcontractor Submittals, RFIs, and NCRs. You will also provide regular site presence in support of QA/QC.

Your Background:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Master's degree is preferred.
• 5+ years of relevant experience, typically post-graduation.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the U.S. is preferred.
• Extensive general civil engineering design and construction experience.
• Demonstrated ability to develop innovative engineering solutions to better serve clients and reduce costs.
• Experience in the power industry, with a working understanding of electrical grid requirements.
• Strong background in foundation and structural design and construction.
• Extensive experience in site grading and drainage design.
• Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally, up to 50%.
