About the Role

Energy Exemplar is seeking a highly experienced Energy Market Advisor to join the EMEA Solutions team. This is a senior, customer-facing role for someone with deep knowledge of European energy markets who combines technical credibility with commercial judgement. The Energy Market Advisor will translate market developments into customer opportunities, market-specific go-to-market strategies and compelling propositions for PLEXOS.

The role is central to positioning Energy Exemplar as a trusted strategic advisor to energy-market participants. From day one, the successful candidate will track priority markets, understand the short- and long-term drivers of prices and investment, and identify the events and structural changes most likely to accelerate demand for advanced energy-market modelling and decision support.

The successful candidate will engage confidently with utilities, developers, system and market operators, investors, traders, governments and regulators. They will move comfortably between detailed market discussions, executive business issues and commercially focused conversations, helping customers understand how market change affects their organisations and how PLEXOS can support the decisions they need to make.

Key Responsibilities

Market Insight and Advisory

  • Monitor priority EMEA energy markets and maintain a current view of factors affecting short-term prices, market operations and longer-term investment decisions.

  • Identify market accelerators, including regulatory decisions, policy changes, price movements, system constraints, investment cycles and market-design reforms, that create timely customer needs and commercial opportunities.

  • Translate complex market developments into clear implications for defined customer segments, explaining what has changed, why it matters and which business, planning or investment decisions are affected.

  • Act as a strategic market advisor in early customer conversations, establishing credibility and insight before opportunities progress into detailed product or technical discussions.

  • Form, communicate and defend a well-reasoned point of view on market developments and their practical implications for customers.

Go to Market and Demand Generation

  • Partner with regional sales and marketing teams to develop market-specific go-to-market strategies, campaign themes and messaging grounded in current customer priorities.

  • Turn market intelligence into clear customer conversation starters, ensuring commercial activity reflects what is changing in each market and why customers should act now.

  • Help generate top-of-funnel activity through targeted campaigns, executive roundtables, webinars, events, thought leadership and account-based engagement.

  • Represent Energy Exemplar at industry events, customer forums and executive briefings, speaking authoritatively about market developments and their implications.

  • Host webinars and roundtables and contribute articles, blogs, market commentary and other thought leadership across relevant EMEA channels.

Sales Enablement and Customer Value

  • Clearly articulate how PLEXOS can address a customer-specific market, planning or investment challenge, avoiding generic or feature-led positioning.

  • Help sales teams establish strong opportunity foundations, including a clear problem statement, stakeholder map, value hypothesis, relevant use cases and agreed next steps.

  • Develop outcome-led business cases for adopting or expanding PLEXOS, linking improved modelling capability to better decision-making, organisational efficiency, risk management and commercial value.

  • Support account teams in aligning customer priorities, market context and the most relevant PLEXOS capabilities throughout early-stage engagement.

  • Build trusted relationships with customers, prospects and market stakeholders, bringing external insight back into Energy Exemplar’s product positioning, content priorities and regional strategy.

Modelling Capability Advisory

  • Advise customers on how to establish or mature an internal energy-modelling practice, including priority use cases, operating model, skills, data requirements, governance and phased development.

  • Create reusable frameworks, workshop approaches and executive materials that align investment in modelling capability with strategic business outcomes.

  • Help customers connect advanced modelling to commercial, policy, operational and system-planning decisions.

Candidate Profile

Essential Experience and Knowledge

  • Substantial experience in European energy markets, gained in a consultancy, utility, developer, system or market operator, investor, trading, regulatory or comparable advisory environment.

  • Strong understanding of wholesale-market fundamentals, price formation, market design, system operations and the drivers of long-term investment.

  • Ability to discuss energy-market modelling and its application to commercial, policy, operational and system-planning decisions.

  • Demonstrated success engaging senior stakeholders and translating complex analysis into clear, compelling recommendations.

  • Evidence of contributing to business development through market insight, customer relationships, propositions, campaigns or thought leadership.

  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to make complex topics accessible to both technical and executive audiences.

Desirable Experience

  • Direct experience with PLEXOS or a comparable energy-market modelling platform; the ability and appetite to develop PLEXOS fluency rapidly is essential.

  • Experience working across multiple EMEA markets and with a broad range of market participants.

  • Additional EMEA language capability.

  • Experience presenting at industry events, leading executive workshops or producing market-facing thought leadership.

Key Competencies

  • Commercial acumen: connects market change to customer urgency, value and practical action.

  • Strategic communication: adapts detailed analysis into a clear executive narrative and recommendation.

  • Consultative influence: builds trust, challenges constructively and gains alignment across diverse stakeholders.

  • Market curiosity: maintains an active, evidence-led perspective on evolving European energy markets.

  • Collaboration: works effectively across solutions, sales, marketing and product teams in a regional environment.

  • Execution discipline: converts insight into prioritised actions, reusable assets and measurable commercial support.

What Success Looks Like

  • Energy Exemplar is recognised by customers and prospects as a credible, timely advisor on priority EMEA market developments.

  • Sales and marketing teams use market insight to run more relevant campaigns and build stronger early-stage opportunities.

  • Customer conversations consistently link PLEXOS to specific market, planning and investment decisions with a clear value hypothesis.

  • Customers are better equipped to develop modelling capabilities that support durable strategic and commercial outcomes.

  • External market feedback informs regional positioning, content priorities and the evolution of customer propositions.
