Alongside our tax, accounts and compliance products, we build Engager: a cloud-based web application that helps accounting practices onboard clients, send proposals, automate client communications and track tasks and deadlines.\nMAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE\nWe are a SaaS business scaling at pace, and we are looking for an Automation Test Engineer who is judged on outcomes rather than activity. This role sits at the heart of Engager: you will work closely with the Engager team, taking ownership of Playwright-based automation testing across its front-end screens and API layers, and working with developers and product owners to make sure every release of the web app is reliable, secure and of high quality. You will operate within a close-knit team that places quality assurance at the centre of how we work, and will play a part in embedding these practices across the wider business.\nEMPLOYMENT DETAILS\nLocation: Fully remote. Candidates must be living in Poland.\n\nContract: Full-time, B2B contract only.\n\nLanguages: Bilingual in English (B2+) and Polish (B2+), as you will be working closely with our Polish team.\n\nPay range: 2,500–2,800 GBP per month.\n\nAI tools: Access to Claude and Claude Code is provided.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES\nDeveloping and maintaining Playwright automation frameworks and test suites (TypeScript/JavaScript) covering SaaS front-end screens and API endpoints.\n\nSelecting and applying appropriate test automation tools and patterns for Playwright, including data-driven testing, page object models, and reusable API test helpers.\n\nParticipating in the change control process to assess the quality implications of known defects and the impact of proposed changes on the testing process.\n\nWorking with the DevOps team to build and maintain an automated build verification (\"smoke\") test, and integrating Playwright test suites into CI/CD pipelines.\n\nDeveloping and executing automated Playwright test suites covering front-end screens (UI flows, regression, cross-browser) and API automation (REST/GraphQL) using TypeScript.\n\nUsing AI tools to speed up test creation and maintenance, such as generating and refactoring Playwright tests, building test data, and analysing failures, while reviewing all AI-generated output for accuracy and quality.\n\nActing as an advocate for quality throughout the development process.\n\nInvestigating and analysing issues within the test environment and applications under test.\n\nAnalysing test results and reporting findings clearly to the wider team.\n\nPrioritising testing and project work in line with agreed business priorities.\n\nUndertaking other testing-related duties as required.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE\nA degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, an ISEB/ISTQB qualification, or equivalent professional/commercial experience.\n\nAt least 3 years' hands-on experience in front-end web automation using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript, testing SaaS applications.\n\nExperience planning and estimating test activity, and collaborating with product owners, business analysts, and developers.\n\nFluent written and spoken English (B2+) and Polish (B2+).\n\nKEY TECHNICAL SKILLS\nHighly experienced working in an agile development environment.\n\nExtensive hands-on experience with Playwright for front-end web automation of SaaS applications (cross-browser UI testing, page object models, visual/regression testing); familiarity with Selenium or similar tools is an advantage.\n\nExperience with test management tools such as Quality Center or Zephyr is an advantage.\n\nStrong experience with TypeScript/JavaScript for Playwright automation, together with API test automation experience (REST/GraphQL) using tools such as Playwright's API testing capabilities or Postman;
