We are decoding the role of the extracellular matrix (ECM) in health and disease to discover new drug targets, biomarkers, and novel therapeutic strategies.

Your mission

Engitix Therapeutics is a London-based biotechnology company unlocking the extracellular matrix (ECM) as a source of novel therapeutic targets for fibrosis and cancer. Through our unique understanding of the ECM, world-class technology, and distinctive approach, we're generating insights that power the development of new, advanced therapeutics.

At the heart of this work is our biological samples resource, the foundation that lets us validate these insights into organ and disease biology and turn cutting-edge science into real progress toward meaningful treatment options.

We're looking for a detail-driven Biospecimens Coordinator to take ownership of the daily operations of our human tissue repository. You'll lead the full lifecycle of our human biological samples, from acquisition, storage, annotation, and quality control through to distribution, ensuring the integrity of a resource that directly underpins our research and development programmes.

What you’ll do

  • Maintain an accurate, up-to-date biospecimen inventory using LIMS, ensuring full traceability
  • Coordinate with project teams to track samples, provide access, and deliver regular inventory updates
  • Manage distribution of samples to internal and external stakeholders while safeguarding traceability
  • Identify and resolve sourcing issues in collaboration with project teams
  • Implement continuous improvements to enhance efficiency and quality of biological sample operations
Quality & Compliance
  • Maintain SOPs, quality systems, and best practices for biospecimen handling
  • Ensure compliance with HTA, GDPR, research ethics, and company health & safety standards
  • Undertake regular internal biorepository audits and provide support for external inspections
Data & Documentation
  • Ensure accurate annotation and metadata capture for all biospecimens
  • Collaborate with Data Sciences team to integrate sample data into research pipelines
  • Generate reports on biobank utilisation, inventory status, and operational metrics
Collaboration & Leadership
  • Anticipate and align stakeholder needs across programmes, accelerating access to biological samples for impactful research
  • Coordinate sample shipments and manage courier relationships
  • Train and mentor staff to maintain technical excellence and compliance with SOPs and best practices while handling biological specimens

Your profile

  • BSc in Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or related field
  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in research tissue banking, sample management, and laboratory operations. Industry experience is desirable
  • Proven experience working within regulatory frameworks for human biospecimen acquisition and use (experience of HTA regulations preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of biospecimen processing and quality assurance practices
  • Proficiency with biobank information management systems (e.g., LIMS)
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Adaptability skills, we work in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to effectively manage sample procurement and operational resources
  • Practical experience with laboratory techniques involving biological samples is desirable

Why us?

  • Be part of a pioneering biotech transforming drug discovery through ECM biology
  • Work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with opportunities to shape the future of targeted therapeutics
  • We offer a competitive package including private medical insurance, pension, bonus, employee perks and more!
