The position will work closely with AME, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and equipment suppliers to establish stable, scalable, and high-throughput assembly operations.\nJob Summary: The AME Assembly Engineer will lead engineering activities for battery cell assembly equipment and processes, with a primary focus on joining technologies, assembly operations, equipment setup and validation, process optimization, and capacity improvement. The role is responsible for ensuring that new and existing assembly equipment meets safety, quality, throughput, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.\nThe position will play a key role in improving overall equipment performance by reducing cycle time, eliminating non-value-added time, resolving chronic equipment and process issues, and supporting production ramp-up through structured engineering validation and data-driven improvement.\nKey Responsibilities\nAssembly Equipment & Process Engineering\nLead engineering activities for battery assembly processes, including joining, sealing, cutting, punching, and related material-handling operations.\nDevelop and optimize joining processes using ultrasonic welding, laser welding, resistance welding, or other applicable joining technologies.\nSupport equipment concept review, design specification, supplier technical evaluation, and design-for-manufacturability activities.\nDefine critical process parameters, equipment requirements, control plans, and acceptance criteria for assembly equipment.\nEquipment Installation, Setup & Validation\nSupport equipment installation, commissioning, setup, debug, and production readiness activities.\nPlan and execute equipment qualification and validation, including FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ, capability studies, and run-at-rate testing as applicable.\nVerify equipment safety, functionality, repeatability, process capability, and compliance with engineering specifications.\nSupport initial production ramp-up and stabilize equipment performance through structured issue tracking and corrective actions.\nProcess Optimization & Capacity Improvement\nAnalyze process performance and equipment losses to improve yield, quality, uptime, cycle time, and throughput.\nMaximize production capacity by identifying and eliminating waste time, bottlenecks, unnecessary motion, waiting time, and recurring equipment stops.\nConduct time studies, line balancing, bottleneck analysis, and capacity modeling to improve overall line performance.\nDrive continuous improvement using data analysis, DOE, SPC, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.\nEquipment Reliability & Issue Resolution\nLead troubleshooting of equipment, tooling, joining, sealing, cutting, punching, and material-handling issues.\nIdentify root causes of chronic failures and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.\nImprove equipment reliability, maintainability, changeover efficiency, and spare-parts strategy in collaboration with Maintenance and Manufacturing teams.\nSupport development of equipment KPIs such as OEE, uptime, MTBF, MTTR, cycle time, and first-pass yield.\nSupplier & Cross-functional Collaboration\nManage technical communication with equipment suppliers and ensure timely closure of design, build, installation, and validation issues.\nCollaborate with Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Controls, Data/Algorithm Engineering, and Product Development teams.\nPrepare technical reports, validation documentation, process specifications, work instructions, and improvement plans.\nSupport standardization of assembly equipment and processes for future production lines and manufacturing expansion.\nCompliance & Standardization\nEnsure assembly equipment and processes comply with company EHS, quality, machine safety, and change-control requirements.\nEstablish equipment and process standards for joining, assembly, validation, documentation, and production readiness.\nSupport calibration, traceability, preventive maintenance, and audit-readiness requirements for assembly equipment.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.\nExperience in manufacturing equipment engineering, process engineering, automation, or production line implementation.\nHands-on experience with assembly equipment, joining processes, equipment setup, commissioning, or validation.\nUnderstanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, sensors, actuators, servo systems, tooling, and industrial automation.\nExperience with structured problem solving, root cause analysis, process capability, and data-driven improvement.\nAbility to read and review equipment drawings, specifications, process documentation, and technical reports.\nAbility to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external equipment suppliers.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in battery, semiconductor, display, electronics, automotive, or high-volume automated manufacturing industries.\nExperience with ultrasonic welding, laser welding, resistance welding, sealing, cutting, punching, or precision assembly processes.\nExperience with FAT, SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ, GR&R, capability studies, and production ramp-up.\nKnowledge of PLC, HMI, MES, vision systems, robotics, servo motion, and automated material handling.\nExperience with OEE improvement, cycle-time reduction, line balancing, capacity analysis, Lean manufacturing, or Six Sigma.\nExperience working with global equipment suppliers or supporting international manufacturing projects.\nBusiness-level English communication skills for technical coordination with global teams
