This is a strategic leadership role requiring deep technical expertise combined with proven people management and service delivery capabilities. The ideal candidate will drive operational excellence, modernization initiatives, and team performance across a complex, mission-critical mainframe environment.\nReports To: Director Mainframe System Programming \nLocation: Hyderabad\nEmployment Type: Full-time, Permanent\nKey Responsibilities\nStrategic Leadership & Management\nLead, mentor, and develop a team of 25+ mainframe system programmers and technical staff\nEstablish and enforce operational standards, best practices, and SLAs across mainframe infrastructure\nDrive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, performance, and availability\nDevelop and execute roadmaps for mainframe modernization and infrastructure advancement\nTechnical Infrastructure Management\nManage large, complex mainframe environments including z/OS Parallel Sysplex, Coupling Facility, and Disaster Recovery (DR) configurations\nDesign, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade automation solutions using REXX, CLIST, and other scripting tools\nEnsure system performance optimization, capacity planning, and resource utilization across multi-CEC environments\nOversee system reliability engineering, high availability strategies, and DR/business continuity protocols\nDrive automation-first culture to reduce manual operations and improve efficiency\nProject & Change Management\nManage complex mainframe projects using Microsoft Project and Agile/Scrum methodologies\nCoordinate release management, change control, and deployment processes\nLead infrastructure modernization initiatives (z/OS enhancements, cloud integration, DevOps adoption)\nEnsure compliance with SDLC best practices and regulatory requirements\nBalance innovation with stability in mission-critical environments\nClient & Stakeholder Management\nServe as primary technical and operational contact for internal and external clients\nDeliver service delivery presentations, operational reviews, and performance metrics\nManage client expectations and communicate infrastructure status, incidents, and improvements\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders and C-suite executives\nDevelop and present SLA reports, capacity planning recommendations, and infrastructure roadmaps\nTeam Development & Performance Management\nConduct goal setting, performance evaluations, and career development planning for team members\nRecruit, onboard, and retain top mainframe talent in a competitive market\nFoster a collaborative, high-performance culture with emphasis on technical excellence\nProvide technical mentoring and knowledge transfer to junior engineers\nDrive team training and certification programs to maintain skill currency\nRequired Qualifications\nExperience\n15+ years in mainframe system programming and infrastructure management\n10+ years leading and managing technical teams of 20+ resources\n Extensive hands-on experience with large, complex mainframe environments including:\nz/OS system administration and internals\nParallel Sysplex and Coupling Facility management\nDisaster Recovery (DR) strategies and implementation\nMulti-CEC environments and high availability architectures\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences\nProven ability to lead, influence, and coordinate across geographically distributed and culturally diverse teams\nStrong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build trust with peers, clients, and leadership\nExperience in client-facing roles and providing executive-level reporting\n\n Technical Skills\nAdvanced proficiency in REXX, CLIST, and other mainframe scripting/automation tools\nDemonstrated expertise in at least 2 of the following core areas:\nMainframe Performance and Capacity Management (RMF, SMF, WLM, SCRT)\nCICS and MQ Performance Engineering\nMainframe Release and Change Management\nMainframe Workload Scheduler Specialist (IWS/TWS)\nz/OS UNIX & zLinux Integration Engineering\nz/OS System Engineering\nz/OS Automation Engineering\nProject & Process Management\nProven expertise in Project Management using Microsoft Project or equivalent tools\nStrong understanding of SDLC, Agile, and Scrum methodologies\nExperience managing complex enterprise projects in regulated environments\nKnowledge of change management, release management, and operational governance\nSoft Skills & Client Engagement\nExcellent communication skills - both technical and executive-level presentations\nClient-facing experience with demonstrated success in service delivery roles\nStrong people management capabilities - leadership, coaching, conflict resolution\nStrategic thinking - ability to align technical solutions with business objectives\nProblem-solving mindset - proven ability to resolve complex technical and operational challenges\nEducational Requirements\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)\nRelevant certifications a plus (e.g., IBM mainframe certifications, ITIL, PMP, Agile/Scrum)\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with mainframe modernization initiatives (Zowe, z/OSMF, API-driven architecture)\nKnowledge of DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code in mainframe contexts\nExposure to hybrid cloud environments and mainframe integration with x86/Linux\nMulti-site or globally distributed team management experience\nExperience with vendor management and third-party mainframe tools\nBackground in financial services, insurance, government, or other mission-critical industries\nShift Timing- 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM\nWe are an equal opportunity employer.
