This person is responsible for the project management, strategic direction, and resource management necessary for the maintenance and ongoing development of the Database systems within NAVSUP OIS.\nThe Data Architect will be responsible for database design, data analytics, data retention processes, data compliance, security, and automating related processes for products used in support of OIS.\nREMOTE: Possibility of up to 10% Travel required - Client meetings in Mechanicsburg, PA, and/or Yorktown, VA\nPrimary Responsibilities:\nThis role provides leadership in coordinating and reviewing the business process analyses, needs assessment, and preliminary cost/benefit analyses to align information technology solutions with the enterprise business initiatives.\nCoordinate with technical leads in the System Architect team with container orchestration, cloud solutions and services in a hybrid cloud environment. \nCreate and maintain high performance, scalable, and stable data architectures for OIS\nLead the organization’s data management, security, and migration initiatives while providing direction for a team of data engineers and database administrators.\nExamine the organization’s current data management systems and identify opportunities to enhance performance and prepare for growth.\nWork with System Architect team and assist in development of policies for standardizing systems, development tools and security practices.\nDesign and implement data warehouse and storage strategy.\nDesign and implement the data extraction, data load, and database synchronization routines and functions ETL.\nAnalyze and make recommendations for improvements to existing software regarding database performance, stability, usability and scalability.\nDefine and implement database security, audit, and resource allocation policies and procedures. \nDesign and implement viable database backup, recovery, and high availability strategies and mechanisms.\nMonitor and optimize database instance using database administration tools, SQL scripts, and database utilities\nProvide guidance and support for data encryption at rest and in transit\nDesign, model, document, and guide the logical and conceptual relationship of data and database changes for complex applications.\nIdentify requirements, research options, design and implement solutions at a leadership level for the OIS Next Generation application and database.\nPerform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk assessments.\nIdentify, research, design, develop, and promote solutions that enhance the modern development environment\nSalary Range: $150.000 - $180,000\nMinimum Qualifications\n Must have DOD Top Secret level clearance to start (fully adjudicated T5 background check); Proof of U.S. Citizenship required only for Federal Clearance Requirement\nCertification Requirements: Directive 8570.1/8140 - IAT II:Baseline Certification:Security+\nComputing Environment Certification: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Data Engineer, Solutions Architect or similar equivalent Cloud environment certification (if not in hand, must be obtained within 3 months of on-boarding)\n\nBA/BS or equivalent experience and 8+ years of prior relevant experience (or master’s with 6+ years or prior relevant experience), at least 3 years of concentrated hands on experience as Data Engineer or Data Architect within similiar tech stack\nExpert level knowledge of all aspects of SQL\nExtensive experience in container orchestration\nExtensive experience in database design and development\nExtensive experience with data modeling, schema design, and database optimization.\nExtensive experience in configuring and managing Oracle database\nExperience in migration from on-prem data center to public cloud (AWS, Azure)\nExperience in decomposition of Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures and triggers to migrate to Amazon Aurora DB, Postgres, or MySQL\nExperience with ETL/ELT pipeline design feeding data warehouse ingestion at scale\nFamiliarity with data retention policies, TTL management, and tiered storage strategies\nUnderstanding of data warehouse monitoring - query performance tracking, storage growth, and resource utilization\nStrong understanding of dimensional modeling, data partitioning strategies, and query optimization for high-volume analytical workloads\nExperience designing and managing large-scale analytical data warehouses, preferably using ClickHouse or comparable columnar/OLAP databases (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake)\nExcellent communication and written skills\nMust be a self-starter, strong leader, and have the ability to work independently with little supervision.\nDesired Qualifications\n12-15 Years of experience in database design and development\nFamiliarity with ClickHouse integrations (Kafka engine, S3-backed storage, or federated queries via external dictionaries/tables)\nExperience operating ClickHouse in a cloud or containerized environment (Kubernetes, ClickHouse Cloud, or Altinity)\nUnderstanding of ClickHouse's eventual consistency model and how it differs from traditional RDBMS transaction semantics\nDemonstrated experience in network and cyber security design, engineering and operations with emphasis on Navy capabilities \nAbout Us\nFormed through the strategic union of Sev1Tech and ERT, Entarian is a premier provider of mission-critical engineering and technology solutions.
