Duties will include support for mission operations, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and assistance to implement tech refresh and integration for new subsystems. The Network Engineer will be expected to plan and coordinate tasks, identify dependencies, mitigate risks, execute least-impact procedures, perform analysis, implement configurations, and create and update documentation and diagrams.Specific duties:\nPerform routine tasks and execute procedures to operate and maintain network infrastructure hardware and software\nAnalyze, troubleshoot, and resolve operational problems in the LAN/WAN infrastructure\nSupport integration efforts for architectural improvements, new subsystems, migrations, OS upgrades, hardware upgrades, and others\nDocument configuration changes in the configuration management system\nMonitor and report device health and status, bandwidth utilization rates, uptime, outage and anomaly tracking, and threat detection/prevention\nDocument problem resolution activities in the ticketing system\nReview and maintain documents and Standard Operating Procedures\nProvide on-call and after-hours support when required\nThis position is primarily on-site at the NOAA Satellite Operations Facility in Suitland, MD. Periodic travel to Fairmont, WV, Wallops Island, VA and Alaska required.\nThe salary range for this positon is $90,000 - $100,000/year.\nMinimum Qualifications\nBS in engineering, computer science, related discipline, or equivalent. \nA minimum of 2 years' relevant experience\nKnowledge of fault-tolerance and high-availability, stateful failover, open standards solutions, system performance, and Continuity of Operations (COOP)\nKnowledge of Next-generation firewalls (NGFW), security zones, and defense-in-depth\nConfigure, optimize, and troubleshoot routing protocols including OSPF and BGP\nConfigure, optimize, and troubleshoot network protocols including VRRP (or HSRP), STP, LACP, MLAG (or vPC), Dot1q, and others\nKnowledge and familiarity with cabling standards such as TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC, IEEE, and others\nMust be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident who has lived in the United States at least 3 out of the last 5 years and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to access applicable government facilities and systems.\nAbout Us\nFormed through the strategic union of Sev1Tech and ERT, Entarian is a premier provider of mission-critical engineering and technology solutions.
