The role has primary responsibility for General Ledger and financial close activities, while providing cross-functional support for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, customer invoicing, Fixed Assets, inventory accounting, financial planning and analysis, and related finance projects. The successful candidate will combine hands-on accounting execution with process improvement, automation, and system implementation activities. As a trusted partner to the Japan Financial Controller, this position will strengthen financial controls, improve operational efficiency, and help build scalable finance processes that support future organizational growth.\nJob description:\nGeneral Ledger, Financial Close, and Reporting (35%)\nPerform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, reserves, prepayments, reconciliations, and variance analysis.\nMaintain General Ledger accounts, perform intercompany balance reconciliations, and support balance sheet and income statement analysis, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A activities.\nAssist with internal control compliance activities and parent company reporting requirements.\nInventory Management (20%)\nSupport inventory accounting, reconciliation, analysis, and reporting activities.\nMonitor inventory balances and assist with inventory-related month-end closing processes and journal entries.\nCoordinate with Operations and Logistics teams to ensure accurate inventory records and appropriate accounting treatment.\nSupport inventory audits and physical count processes as necessary.\nAccounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Invoicing, and Fixed Assets (15%)\nProvide cross-functional support for Accounts Payable, including invoice processing, payments, vendor reconciliations, employee expenses, and issue resolution.\nSupport Accounts Receivable, customer invoicing, cash application, credit-related processes, reconciliations, and related issue resolution.\nSupport fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, transfers, disposals, reconciliations, physical counts, and fixed asset tax declarations.\nEnsure compliance with corporate policies and Japanese statutory requirements in these areas.\nCompliance and Statutory Requirements (15%)\nSupport Japanese statutory accounting, tax compliance, and regulatory reporting requirements.\nEnsure compliance with the Japanese Qualified Invoice System and the Electronic Books Preservation Act.\nLiaise with external tax advisors and government authorities as required.\nProcess Improvement and Finance Transformation (15%)\nIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce manual activities.\nLead or participate in finance transformation, automation, and system enhancement projects across AP, AR, GL, Fixed Assets, Inventory, Treasury, and Expense Management, from requirements identification and process design through testing, implementation, and post-implementation stabilization.\nSupport implementation and optimization of finance applications and digital solutions, including process documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials.\nUndertake other accounting, reporting, compliance, and finance transformation responsibilities assigned by the supervisor in response to changing business priorities.\nEssential skills and knowledge:\nBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. Bookkeeping Level 2 (Nissho Boki 2nd Grade), an equivalent qualification, or demonstrably equivalent accounting knowledge is also required.\nNative-level Japanese and business-level English, including written and verbal communication skills sufficient to work with local and global stakeholders.\nHands-on experience in General Ledger accounting and financial close, with familiarity supporting Accounts Payable and Fixed Asset Accounting. The candidate must be able to independently prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations, investigate variances, resolve accounting issues, and complete assigned close activities within established deadlines.\nExperience in a multinational corporation or international business environment, with practical knowledge of Japanese accounting, tax, audit, statutory reporting, internal controls, and compliance requirements.\nSolid knowledge of financial accounting principles, month-end close processes, journal entries, account reconciliations, accrual accounting, fixed asset accounting, inventory accounting, balance sheet management, financial reporting, and variance analysis.\nPractical experience with ERP systems and financial applications, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and the ability to use Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Copilot effectively for documentation, analysis, communication, and process improvement.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.\nContinuous improvement mindset, strong attention to detail, high level of accuracy, self-motivation, ability to work independently, and willingness to balance operational responsibilities with strategic improvement initiatives.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nKnowledge of and experience with Oracle E-Business Suite (Oracle EBS), Kyriba, Bill One, e-Tax, and Concur Expense.\nExperience with finance process automation, workflow digitization, system implementation projects, Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, or similar digital productivity tools.\nExperience supporting treasury, cash management, FP&A activities, process improvement, or finance transformation initiatives.\nJapanese CPA, U.S. CPA, or another relevant professional accounting qualification is preferred. \n#LI-CV\nAt Entrust, we don’tjust offer jobs - we offer career journeys.
