This position offers remote and/or hybrid schedule options with minimal travel.\nENTRUST Solutions Group, a company of Leidos, Power Generation, offers independent third-party engineering solutions to global power providers and plant operators. Power Generation's service offerings cover conventional and renewable power, as well as compliance, encompassing plant conceptual design through operation and maintenance.\nThe ideal candidate would have experience in underground distribution design as well as experience with inverter-based resources (IBR). Comfortable in AutoCAD as well as Microsoft office applications.\nResponsibilities:\nDevelop detailed engineering designs for utility-scale and commercial solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from concept through construction.\nCreate and maintain Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages, including plan views, profiles, single-line diagrams, site layouts, electrical details, grounding plans, trenching plans, and equipment installation details.\nProduce construction-ready drawings and design documentation that comply with project specifications, utility requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.\nCoordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and geotechnical teams to ensure design integration and constructability.\nDevelop and review AC and DC system layouts, equipment placement, cable routing, conduit schedules, and wiring diagrams.\nPerform system design calculations including voltage drop, cable ampacity, fault current, grounding, short-circuit, and equipment sizing studies.\nDesign and review medium-voltage (MV) and distribution systems associated with renewable energy facilities, including feeders, collector systems, reclosers, switches, transformers, and utility interconnection infrastructure.\nApply knowledge of electric distribution system design principles to support utility interconnections, feeder upgrades, line extensions, and distribution protection requirements.\nof-interconnection (POI) requirements with utility stakeholders.\nPrepare and review single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection and control drawings, and relay coordination documentation.\nSupport distribution engineering efforts including conductor selection, pole loading assessments, voltage regulation considerations, and equipment specification.\nCoordinate with utilities to address interconnection comments, design revisions, and permitting requirements.\nConduct constructability reviews and provide engineering support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.\nEvaluate engineering change requests and update IFC drawings to reflect approved field modifications.\nReview vendor drawings, equipment submittals, and manufacturer documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements.\nDevelop bill of materials (BOMs), equipment specifications, and installation standards for PV, BESS, and distribution equipment.\nSupport permitting activities by preparing technical documentation for AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction), utilities, and regulatory agencies.\nCollaborate with construction managers and field teams to resolve RFIs, design conflicts, and installation issues.\nUtilize AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar design platforms to develop and maintain engineering drawing packages.\nSupport project schedules by managing engineering deliverables, tracking design milestones, and coordinating multidisciplinary reviews.\nWhat We Offer:\nA supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and encourages innovation.\nOpportunities for professional growth and career development.\nCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, retirement program with a company match, tuition reimbursement, and flexible work schedules. \nBasic Requirements:\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program with a focus on the power side and minimum of four (4+) years’ experience in the design and construction of power/generation/renewable energy projects.\nUnderstanding engineering standards and regulations (e.g., NEC, UL, ISO).\nDevelop system-level schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.\nCollaborate with project managers, technicians, and other stakeholders to ensure successful implementation.\nThorough technical understanding of distributed energy technologies, including some combination of solar and battery\nProject management experience with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.\nKnowledge of the various DER power sources within the Microgrid and how best interface with the utility to provide the most efficient system.\nAutoCAD experience (for creating 30/60/90/IFC drawing sets for permit and installation)\nExcellent communication skills possessing the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical resources to make projects work.\nWhy Join Us?\nAt ENTRUST Solutions Group, a Leidos company, we are driven by a commitment to innovation, technical excellence, and delivering the critical infrastructure that powers and connects communities.
