ENTRUST Solutions Group is seeking a Sr. Design Technician to support electric distribution system design projects that power communities. This position is ideal for an experienced technician who enjoys developing utility design solutions, collaborating with team members and occasional hands-on field work,\nWhat you'll do:\nPerform field visits to collect data on utility poles and electrical infrastructure, ensuring accuracy for design packages.\nDesign overhead and underground electric distribution systems, preparing construction drawings, bills of materials, and documentation.\nProvide calculations such as pole loading, voltage drop, easement validation, permitting requirements, and cost estimating.\nConduct pole analysis modeling, develop materials lists, perform GIS reviews, and prepare or update design prints.\nSupport pre-construction activities and answer design and site-related questions.\nReview client records, GIS data, and field information to identify conflicts, verify accuracy, and incorporate updates.\nLead junior technicians through data collection, drafting, and utility design standards.\nManage multiple projects while meeting quality, schedule, and client expectations.\nApply company safety rules, client standards, and regulatory requirements (RUS, NESC, permitting).\nCollaborate with engineers, designers, and construction crews, participating in walkdowns and coordination meetings.\nWork independently with strong communication and documentation practices.\nHere's what you'll need:\n2-5 years of experience in a design technician, engineering technician, or utility design role.\nExperience in utility distribution network design, overhead/underground layouts, pole line design, etc.\nProficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar drafting/design software.\nAbility to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and utility standards.\nProficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.\nClient-facing experience and strong communication skills.\nWillingness to travel for fielding assignments, as needed (mileage reimbursed).\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience with BOUD or Maximo\nExperience with DDS design software tools.\nKnowledge of GIS systems such as SmallWorld or Bentley Utility Designer.\nAssociate degree or advanced technical degree in a related field.\nExperience mentoring junior technicians.\nWhat We Offer:\nA supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and encourages innovation.\nOpportunities for professional growth and career development.\nCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, retirement program with a company match, tuition reimbursement, and flexible work schedules.\nWhy Join Us?\nAt ENTRUST Solutions Group, a Leidos company, we are driven by a commitment to innovation, technical excellence, and delivering the critical infrastructure that powers and connects communities.
