Recycling Scotland is hiring an Environment and Compliance Advisor to support environmental compliance across Enva’s Scottish recycling operations.\nReporting to the Head of Environmental & Compliance, you will provide practical advice, guidance and assurance to site teams, helping ensure operations remain aligned with environmental permits, waste regulation, Duty of Care obligations, internal standards and relevant management systems.\nThis role is suited to someone with hands-on environmental compliance experience who can work closely with operational teams, identify risks early, support corrective action and build confidence in day-to-day compliance standards.\nPermanent role\nBased in Linwood, with travel across the 4 Recycling sites in Scotland\n40 hours a week\nKey Responsibilities\nProvide practical advice and assurance on environmental legislation, permits and licences across Scottish recycling operations, including SEPA permits, waste carrier requirements, Duty of Care and relevant ISO standards.\nSupport day-to-day engagement with the SEPA and other external authorities, escalating significant issues to the Head of Environmental & Compliance.\nAssist with permit applications, modifications, variations and renewals, ensuring information is accurate, timely and well controlled.\nMonitor regulatory updates and help assess the practical impact for sites, processes and local compliance routines.\nSupport internal compliance systems, audit plans and routine assurance activity.\nParticipate in internal and external environmental audits, inspections and regulatory visits, ensuring actions are captured and followed through.\nIdentify compliance risks, support corrective actions and provide clear updates to the Head of Environmental & Compliance and site leadership.\nSupport environmental incident reporting, investigations and root cause analysis, ensuring learning is shared and actions are closed.\nDrive continuous improvement in environmental performance across all sites.\nOversee waste classification, acceptance procedures, and material movements.\nDevelop and lead sustainability, carbon reduction and environmental improvement initiatives.\nPrepare and review environmental performance data, reports and KPIs.\nProvide functional guidance, coaching and technical support to site teams and operational managers on environmental compliance matters.\nDevelop, implement and maintain environmental policies, procedures and management systems.\nEnsure staff are trained and competent in environmental and compliance requirements.\nOversee document control and record keeping systems related to compliance.\nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\nEnvironmental compliance experience within waste, recycling, resource management, industrial services, logistics, manufacturing or another regulated operational environment.\nStrong working knowledge of UK environmental legislation and permitting.\nProven experience dealing with environmental regulators.\nExperience supporting audits, inspections, corrective actions and compliance improvement activity. \nClear communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to provide constructive advice and challenge in a practical, respectful way.\nAbility to balance regulatory rigour with operational and commercial realities\nProven experience managing
