The drive to pioneer advancements continues today, as we develop smart, simple diagnostic technology.\nJob Description\nThe EH&S Supervisor works directly with all internal departments to ensure a safe environment for all by focusing on the creation and enforcement of safety protocols and policies. In addition, this position will have ownership of the outsourced safety and facilities based preventative maintenance/calibration processes and have direct leadership responsibility for the EnviroLogix Facilities team, currently consisting of two individuals\nSafety & Compliance Operations\nDevelop and implement comprehensive safety protocols, considering the specific risks associated with laboratory activities.\nEnforce safety policies including Lockout/Tagout, machine interlock, and machine guarding.\nEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations across EnviroLogix.\nConduct regular risk assessments of equipment, facilities, products, and processes to identify potential hazards and implement preventive measures.\nMaintain internal SDS reference library as well as kit/component SDSs for produced products.\nManage SDSs for internal chemicals and other substances.\nHelp identify ergonomic risks such as repetitive tasks, improper work area setup, and improper use of tools.\nDevelop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, including chemical spills, fires, and other laboratory incidents, in close collaboration with the facilities team.\nEnsure EnviroLogix maintains proper first responder capabilities.\nConduct routine internal safety inspections to identify and rectify potential safety hazards.\nConduct/manage external safety audits to ensure the laboratory meets and exceeds safety standards.\nOversee the procurement, maintenance, and proper utilization of safety equipment, including PPE, emergency eyewashes, and showers.\nInvestigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.\nManage universal, hazardous, and biological waste in the facility and support transportation and records management.\nEnsure safety during 5S events and safety sustainment during 5S audits.\nInform and advise management on matters and/or concerns regarding health, security, safety, and compliance.\nFacilities\nThe primary facilities function is to guide and enable the two highly capable facilities Technicians that EnviroLogix has. A successful candidate will be familiar with facilities functions but does not need to be a facilities expert.\nMaintain the Portland, ME EnviroLogix campus including all maintenance, repairs, upkeep and facilities upgrades\nCreate a facilities project roadmap outlining the maintenance and upgrades required to operate our business and budget capital requirements accordingly\nEnable facilities investment by understanding and communicating the cost / benefit of the needs and getting buy-in and approval from all required stakeholders\nManage all external facilities and maintenance contractors and contracts, including the quoting process and subsequent payment\nTraining & Continuous Improvement\nProvide safety training on proper procedures, equipment usage, emergency response, and the use of safety equipment.\nDeliver procedures and training for receiving and handling hazardous materials.\nSupport ongoing improvement through safety sustainment practices and 5S compliance.\nMaintain accurate documentation and records related to safety protocols, inspections, and corrective actions.\nLeadership & Talent Development\nPromote a culture of safety, quality, and delivery excellence across all operational functions.\nLead with authenticity and empathy to build trust, open communication, and psychological safety.\nDevelop and mentor high-performing teams, driving engagement, retention, and continuous learning.\nExecute performance management processes including goal setting, coaching, feedback, and development planning.\nMentor and coach team members on safety awareness and best practices.\nCollaborate cross-functionally, with emphasis on leading the safety committee, to strengthen safety capabilities.\nSupport talent development initiatives that build a resilient and informed workforce.\nThis role will at times be expected to directly participate in the EnviroLogix production process. While not a primary responsibility, this is a standard expectation in the Operations team to support seasonality spikes.\nQualifications:\nAssociate degree or higher preferably in Occupational Health and Safety\nMinimum of 5+ year experience in a Health and Safety and/or Facilities related position\nSafety certifications are a plus. Examples include Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), and Safety Trained Supervisor (STS)\nPositive work ethic, ambitious and passionate attitude\nAbility to prioritize, multi-task and perform effectively under pressure\nContinuous improvement mindset\nStrong written and verbal communications skills\nAbility to work collaboratively with internal departments to solve problems and address needs\nProficient with Microsoft Office based applications\nPhysical Requirements:\nAbility to stand and sit for extended periods\nAbility to extend and reach with hands and arms; and use hands and fingers to handle, squeeze, twist and manipulate objects, controls and tools\nAbility to lift, move, and carry up to 60 pounds\nAbility to communicate verbally by phone and in person\nThe anticipated range for this position is: $85,000 - $105,000 per year.
