You will build the tools that public agencies and local governments rely on to run transparently, execute big plans, and build thriving communities. This role is expected to work PST business hours along with the rest of the team.\nIf you enjoy solving meaningful, real-world problems alongside a supportive team and want a role where your technical input genuinely shapes the product, we would love to meet you.\nKey Responsibilities\nOwn the end-to-end delivery to design, build, test, and ship features across the full stack, from front-end user interfaces to backend services.\nContribute to technical design discussions, architectural decisions, and continuous improvement initiatives (eg. codebase/technical improvements)\nApply best practices to software development, combining strong testing discipline with impactful code reviews that ensure codebase quality, reliability, and maintainability.\nLeverage AI-powered coding tools and workflows to accelerate development.\nSupport continuous deployment and monitoring of production systems.\nCollaborate with stakeholders across various departments to support business needs, partnering closely with Product Management to define, design, and implement new user features.\nContribute to a culture of shared technical knowledge across the engineering team.\nWrite clear, thorough, and accessible technical documentation for systems, workflows, and code changes.\nCore Requirements\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.\n4+ years of professional full-stack experience building and maintaining web applications.\nStrong understanding of software design patterns and clean architecture principles.\nStrong frontend experience building responsive web applications using React.\nSolid backend experience implementing server-side code, managing data models/databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), and building APIs (GraphQL and REST).\nExperience using AI developer tools and agentic workflows (eg. Copilot, Claude, or Cursor) with strong prompting skills to optimize daily workflows and engineering efficiency.\nUnderstanding of automated testing frameworks, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.\nAbility to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.\nExperience with Agile development methodologies.\nBonus Points\nExperience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails is highly desirable, but not required if you can adapt to our backend stack quickly.\nExperience with AWS, Heroku, DevOps concepts.\nExperience with civic technology, public sector software, or strategic planning and performance management platforms.\nExperience building accessible web applications.\nExperience working in a distributed, remote team environment.\nWhy Envisio\nEnvisio’s award-winning software aligns staff with departmental action plans and key performance measures, enabling customers to establish trust with their stakeholders.
