You will be responsible for the installation, routing, and termination of various types of cables, including fiber optic and data, in commercial and industrial settings. This role requires a detail-oriented individual capable of working in diverse environments, such as construction sites, commercial buildings, and outdoor spaces. The Cable Technician will work under the supervision of a Site Lead or Project Manager and collaborate with other team members to ensure the successful completion of projects.\nKey Responsibilities:\nCable Installation: Pull, route, and install various types of cables, including fiber optic, coaxial, and Ethernet, through walls, ceilings, and conduit pathways in accordance with project specifications and industry standards.\nCable Termination: Perform precise terminations of fiber optic and copper cables, including the installation of connectors, patch panels, and other termination hardware. Ensure that terminations meet industry standards for performance and reliability.\nPreparation and Setup: Prepare work areas by identifying and marking locations for cable installation and termination, ensuring all tools and materials are ready for use.\nEquipment Operation: Safely operate equipment such as fiber optic and copper testing equipment, fiber optic cleavers, crimping tools, and other specialized tools required for cable installation and termination.\n Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.\nQuality Assurance: Inspect and test installed and terminated cables to ensure proper connections, performance, and adherence to specifications. Use testing equipment such as OTDRs, cable testers, and certifiers.\nDocumentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including cable routes, lengths, termination points, and test results.\nTeam Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a team, communicating with supervisors and colleagues to coordinate efforts and resolve any installation or termination issues.\nProblem-Solving: Identify and troubleshoot issues related to cable installation and termination, including obstructions, cable integrity problems, and signal loss.\nRequirements\nLevel 1 Qualifications\nU.S. Citizenship required.\n0-2 years’ basic cabling experience.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.\nPrevious construction, low-voltage, telecommunications, or cable installation experience is preferred but not required.\nWillingness to learn cable installation, termination, testing, and industry practices.\nAbility to follow written and verbal instructions.\nStrong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail.\nValid driver's license.\nOSHA 10/30, BICSI, FOA, or related certifications are a plus.\nLevel 2 Qualifications\nU.S. Citizenship required.\n2-5 years’ cabling experience.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nPrevious experience in cable installation, low-voltage, telecommunications, electrical, or related construction work.\nDemonstrated ability to independently perform cable pulling, routing, termination, and testing tasks.\nWorking knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling systems.\nAbility to read and follow project drawings, specifications, and work instructions.\nStrong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.\nValid driver's license.\nOSHA 10/30, BICSI, FOA, fiber optic, copper, or related certifications are a plus.\nLevel 3 Qualifications\nU.S. Citizenship required.\n5 - 8 years’ cabling experience.\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nDemonstrated experience in fiber optic, copper, structured cabling, low-voltage, telecommunications, or related installation work.\nAdvanced proficiency in cable pulling, routing, termination, fiber optic splicing, copper termination, and testing.\nAbility to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.\nAbility to interpret drawings, specifications, and project requirements.\nDemonstrated ability to provide technical direction and support to other technicians.\nStrong communication, organization, decision-making, and leadership skills.\nValid driver's license.\nOSHA 10/30, BICSI, FOA, fiber optic, copper, or related certifications are a plus.\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to lift at least 44 lbs.\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.\nAbility to work in confined spaces and at heights above 20 feet, including ladder use.\nAbility to work indoors, outdoors, and in varying weather conditions.\nEmployment decisions are based solely on qualifications, merit, and business needs - not on any protected characteristic.
