The engineer also serves as a technical escalation point for infrastructure, deployment, and security issues, working cross-functionally with implementation, engineering, support, and leadership teams.\nCore Responsibilities\nInfrastructure Monitoring & Alerting (Primary Ownership)\nOwn end-to-end monitoring and alerting across supported AWS environments using Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, and related tools.\nConfigure, tune, and maintain alerts to reduce noise, close coverage gaps, and keep notifications actionable.\nInvestigate and respond to infrastructure alerts, performance issues, and availability concerns.\nMaintain dashboards and observability views used by internal teams to assess environment health.\nSupport incident investigation and root cause analysis using monitoring data, logs, and metrics.\nDefine monitoring standards and alerting expectations across client and internal environments.\nDevOps & Cloud Infrastructure\nSupport AWS infrastructure across client, internal, and production environments.\nBuild, configure, and validate dedicated cloud resources for client implementation and onboarding.\nProvide L1/L2 escalation support for infrastructure, deployment, and environment issues.\nSupport CI/CD workflows, deployment automation, and repeatable operational processes.\nDrive reliability, scalability, and operational consistency improvements.\nLead AWS cost management efforts including resource cleanup, right-sizing, and usage optimization.\nMaintain runbooks, documentation, and operational procedures for recurring workflows.\nSecurity Operations / DevSecOps\nMonitor SIEM and security tooling; triage, investigate, and escalate security events.\nReview infrastructure and deployment configurations for security risks.\nApply least-privilege principles to IAM, access control, and cloud resource configuration.\nSupport vulnerability remediation and risk reduction efforts.\nEnsure logging, monitoring, and alerting cover security-relevant activity.\nCollaborate with engineering, implementation, and support teams on security findings and secure deployment practices.\nLevel Expectations\nThis role operates with independent ownership and technical judgment, particularly across monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and operational visibility. The engineer is expected to:\nIndependently investigate and resolve complex infrastructure, deployment, and monitoring issues.\nMake technical decisions that balance reliability, security, cost, and operational impact.\nSupport multiple client and internal environments with minimal supervision.\nAct as a technical escalation point across infrastructure and security domains.\nIdentify risks, gaps, and monitoring blind spots before they become operational issues.\nImprove systems through automation, documentation, and process refinement.\nQualifications\nRequired\nHands-on experience supporting AWS cloud infrastructure in production or client-facing environments.\nDemonstrated experience with DevOps operations, deployment support, monitoring, and troubleshooting.\nExperience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or equivalent platforms.\nExperience with security monitoring, SIEM review, vulnerability remediation, or secure cloud configuration.\nWorking knowledge of core AWS services, IAM, networking, and least-privilege practices.\nAbility to troubleshoot across infrastructure, applications, deployments, and security tooling.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document issues and explain technical findings to cross-functional audiences.\nPreferred\nCI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.\nInfrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK).\nContainerized workloads (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes).\nAWS security services (GuardDuty, Security Hub, IAM Access Analyzer, AWS Config, CloudTrail, WAF, Inspector).\nVulnerability scanning, SIEM workflows, and alert triage.\nMulti-client, single-tenant, or dedicated client cloud environments.\nAWS cost optimization and resource right-sizing.\nOperational documentation, runbooks, and automation scripting.\nPreferred Certifications\nAWS Certified Solutions Architect\nAWS Certified SysOps Administrator\nAWS Certified Developer\nAWS Certified Security - Specialty\nAWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional\nCompTIA Security+\nCompTIA Network+\nSuccess Criteria\nSuccess is measured by improvements in infrastructure visibility, alerting effectiveness, operational reliability, security posture, and cloud cost efficiency.
