The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in accounting, preferably public accounting, combined with private industry experience at a private equity or real estate firm, and will be comfortable both operating hands-on and building scalable processes, systems, and controls. This is an on-site position at our New York, NY office. It follows a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in the office and two days a week remote/work from home.\nKey Responsibilities\nCorporate Accounting and Financial Reporting\nOwn the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close for the management company, and other entities, including review of journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and account reconciliations.\nMaintain the corporate general ledger and chart of accounts in Sage Intacct, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of all corporate accounting records.\nOversee intercompany accounting to include reconciliation of intercompany balances across entities, expense allocations, billbacks and chargebacks, and shared services cost allocations to properties.\nManage the accounting and reporting of management company and affiliated entity results, including preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules.\nOversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, vendor management, employee expense reporting through Concur and corporate card programs, and cash disbursements.\nAssist with the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and monthly budget versus actual reporting.\nPrepare calculations of distributable cash after agreed-on reserves in accordance with established timing and standards.\nServe as a key point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors, coordinating corporate audit support, tax-basis information, and responses to information requests.\nLead the management company audit process, as needed, including preparing the financial statements, coordinating support schedules, managing auditor requests, and driving timely completion.\nHelp maintain and improve accounting, billback and allocations policies, procedures, internal controls, and reporting workflows, with a focus on scalability and automation.\nSupport the ongoing optimization of Sage Intacct, Concur and other systems for corporate accounting and reporting.\nPartner cross-functionally with Investors’ accounting, finance, operations, and leadership to support joint initiatives, ad-hoc analysis, and special projects.\nTreasury Management\nReconcile operating bank accounts timely and accurately for multiple, multi-bank accounts\nAssert bank account control by way of cash movements and payments; Corporate provisions users to accounts\nManage daily cash positioning, cash concentration, and short-term liquidity, and produce near term cash flow forecasts to support operating, investment, and distribution decisions.\nOwn banking relationships and bank account administration, as needed, including account openings and closings, signatory and entitlement management\nOversee payment operations across the finance department, including wires and EFTs, ensuring appropriate segregation of duties, dual approvals, and payment controls.\nEstablish and maintain treasury policies, procedures, and internal controls, and monitor compliance with approval limits, fraud prevention, and cash management standards.\nQualifications\nExperience\n10-15 years of relevant accounting experience.\nMix of public accounting and private industry experience required; public accounting experience strongly preferred.\nExperience as a Controller or senior accounting leader at a private equity, real estate, or other financial services firm preferred.\nExperience owning a corporate or management company close, including multiple workflows, expense allocations, and fee invoicing and distributions, required.\nHands-on treasury experience, including cash management, liquidity forecasting, banking administration, and payment operations, required.\nExperience administering accounts payable including interaction with a third-party providing invoice processing and payments services, preferred.\nExperience with Sage Intacct or a comparable ERP\nSupervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.\nSkills\nStrong understanding of U.S. GAAP, corporate and management company accounting, payments processing and general accounting.\nStrong treasury and cash management knowledge, including liquidity forecasting, banking operations, and payment controls.\nStrong Excel skills required, with the ability to work efficiently with large data sets and complex reporting schedules.\nTechnology-forward mindset, with the ability to quickly learn and implement new systems, tools, and reporting platforms.\nDemonstrated interest in leveraging technology, automation, AI, and data to improve accuracy, efficiency, analysis, and reporting workflows.\nComfort working with data, identifying trends or anomalies, and using data-driven insights to support review, reporting, and decision-making.\nExcellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nHigh attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.\nAbility to work independently while also collaborating effectively across teams.\nThe annual salary range for this position is $170,000 to
