In this role, you will design robust, secure and scalable database solutions while guiding customers through their transformation journey from legacy or on-premises platforms to modern AWS-native database services.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nAssess existing database workloads and identify applications and databases suitable for migration and modernization\nDefine end-to-end database migration and modernization strategy, architecture and roadmap on AWS\nDesign scalable, highly available, resilient and secure database solutions using Amazon RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL and other AWS database services\nArchitect heterogeneous database migrations from on-premises or other cloud platforms to AWS using AWS DMS and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)\nDefine migration patterns, wave planning, cutover strategies, rollback approaches, validation and post-migration health checks\nProvide architectural guidance for database modernization, including re-platforming and transformation from legacy or commercial databases to PostgreSQL/Aurora PostgreSQL\nLead database performance, scalability, security, backup, disaster recovery, monitoring and operational design\nEstablish standards, best practices, reusable migration patterns and technical runbooks\nCollaborate with application, infrastructure, security, DevOps and business teams to address migration dependencies and technical risks\nConduct architecture reviews, workshops and technical discussions with senior customer stakeholders\nMentor engineering teams and provide technical leadership throughout migration and modernization programs\n\nRequirements\n\n12-16 years of general IT experience\n12+ years of experience architecting enterprise-scale database solutions on AWS\nDeep expertise in Amazon RDS and Aurora PostgreSQL\nStrong hands-on and architectural knowledge of AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)\nExperience leading large-scale and heterogeneous database migration programs\nStrong knowledge of SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL or similar enterprise relational databases\nExperience with database modernization, schema conversion, data migration, performance tuning and query optimization\nStrong understanding of AWS networking, IAM, security, encryption, monitoring, backup, high availability and disaster recovery concepts\nExperience defining migration strategies, migration waves, cutover plans, rollback procedures, validation approaches and migration runbooks\nStrong stakeholder management, consulting, architecture documentation and communication skills\nProficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher\n\nNice to have\n\nAWS certifications\nExposure to Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation\nExperience with database automation and DevOps/CI/CD practices\nShowcase of delivering complex database modernization and transformation programs in large enterprise
