Epassi has been recognised by the Financial Times as one of the fastest-growing companies in Europe on multiple occasions.\nWe are currently hiring a Senior React Native Enginee rbased in Milan (hybrid work).\nYour mission at Epassi\nYou will report to the Head of Engineering Italy and join the engineering team in Italy.\nThis is a new role created to bring dedicated mobile ownership to our B2C and B2B apps. As the senior mobile reference in the company, you will own the mobile applications end-to-end (architecture, development, build pipelines and store publication) and set the technical direction for mobile. You will work closely with backend and web engineers to make sure mobile concerns are built in from the start, not bolted on at the end. This is a hands-on role for someone who treats the apps as a product, takes release quality seriously, and has the experience and autonomy to deliver without a dedicated mobile squad around them.\nYour responsibilities will be:\nOwn the mobile applications end-to-end: architecture, development, build pipelines, and publication on the App Store and Google Play for both the B2C and B2B apps\nDefine and drive the mobile technical roadmap and architecture, making and documenting key decisions (state management, navigation, native modules, upgrade strategy)\nDrive cross-platform quality and parity, ensuring a consistent, high-performance experience on iOS and Android and resolving platform-specific issues proactively\nWork closely with backend engineers to design and consume APIs, representing mobile concerns (offline behaviour, latency, data efficiency) early in design discussions\nEstablish and maintain testing practices (unit, integration, E2E) and own the QA process for mobile releases, reducing defect escape rate\nOwn and improve CI/CD pipelines for mobile, reducing manual steps and increasing release confidence\nShare knowledge and raise the bar: set mobile best practices, run code reviews, and support web and backend engineers contributing to the apps\nContribute to hiring and onboarding as the mobile team grows\nYou’ll be successful in this role if you:\nDeliver all apps on a stable, documented release cadence with no critical store incidents\nDrive a measurable improvement in app performance metrics (crash rate, ANR, load times) compared to baseline\nBuild and maintain a CI/CD pipeline for mobile that is automated, reliable, and adopted by the team\nPut a real testing strategy in place that the team actually uses\nEstablish mobile architecture and practices that other engineers can follow and build on\nWhat you should bring:\n5+ years of mobile development, including 3+ years with React Native in production and apps live on both iOS and Android\nProven experience owning a mobile product end-to-end, with strong architectural judgment and the ability to make trade-offs under constraints\nHands-on experience with native iOS/Android code (bridging, native modules) and with diagnosing performance, memory and crash issues using profiling and monitoring tools\nProven ability to work cross-functionally without a dedicated mobile squad, and to influence technical decisions across teams\nHands-on experience with app store submission processes, signing, and compliance\nSolid understanding of REST API integration and mobile-specific concerns\nExperience using AI coding tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude) as a genuine productivity multiplier: you know when to trust and when to verify\nExperience with web development (React + TypeScript) is a plus\nExperience mentoring other engineers is a plus\nAn ownership mindset: you treat the apps as a product, flag risks before they become incidents, and follow
