PATH operates services throughout California, connecting our clients to a comprehensive continuum of homelessness prevention, street outreach, employment preparation and placement assistance, individualized case management, supportive services, interim housing, and permanent supportive housing. \nABOUT OUR TEAM\nEvery program in our growing range of services is designed to holistically address barriers to long-term housing stability, implementing evidenced-based practices to promote improved well-being beyond housing alone. We are committed to improving the quality of our services by creating a diverse work environment for the community at large.\nABOUT THE JOB\nAs part of theInterim Housing team The Lead Cook helps create a welcoming, homelike environment and develops nutritious meals for our guests. The work alongside a team of kitchen and interim housing program staff to ensure that all PATH Interim Housing guests receive three meals each day and snacks/refreshments throughout the day as needed.\nPosition Responsibilities include: \nCustomer service: Provide all guests with a home-like environment during their stay in the PATH Interim Housing program. Promote and follow interim housing established values, guidelines, and rules. \nVolunteer Support: Assist all volunteers by providing all necessary food safety support to ensure that they have valuable experience.\nFood Preparation: Oversee the preparation of large quantities of food with staggered cooking, heating, baking, etc. Prepare food and beverages according to standardized recipes, production sheets, and menus.\nMeal Schedule Time Management: Ensure that guests' meals are served at established meal scheduled times and support other kitchen staff as required. Organize duties so that foods are prepared for service at appropriate times and within acceptable temperature ranges.\nKitchen Management: Ensure the commercial kitchen runs smoothly, including coordinating staff schedules, stocking supplies, coordinating meal deliveries to offsite locations and delegating tasks.\nInventory Management: Monitor food inventory levels. Request, store, label, rotate, and dispose of all food and supply items, perishable and non-perishable.\nFood Safety: Maintain health and safety codes in adherence with Department of Public Health standards which include proper food handling procedures, sanitation and cleanliness to the site and reporting any issues to management.\nFollow Proper Cleaning procedures: Maintain sanitary conditions during all food preparation and delivery by following correct infection control procedures and by thoroughly cleaning work areas and equipment in the department, including walls and floors.\nMenu Development: Assist with recipe development, modification and posting the monthly menu for the site.\nDietary & Special Diets: Manage and maintain the up-to-date guest dietary restriction list for the site and ensure guests on the list receive their approved meals.\nEvent Planning: Assist with organizing, preparing and set up on-site special events to include barbeques, holiday events, ice cream socials, and other events as assigned.\nEquipment Management: Operate all electric, gas and steam equipment properly which includes setting up a portable steam able served in the dining room. Maintain equipment in proper sanitary and operating condition.\nDonation Support: Provide support as needed with picking up and dropping off food donations and meals to multiple sites utilizing PATH company vehicle.\nWHAT YOU BRING\nWe’re looking for candidates with:\nAnalytical Skills and Attention to Detail: Gather and interpret data, identifying trends, patterns, and insights to inform decision-making.
