You work independently on a large, established Swift and Objective-C codebase, own the reading experience end-to-end, and partner with our Android, backend, and web teams.\nThis is a role based in India, working closely with Epic's US engineering team and the wider global team.\nWhat You'll Do\nOwn and evolve Epic's native iOS app across iPhone and iPad -- a large, established Swift and Objective-C codebase\nOwn the reading experience -- the in-house book renderer and audio-text sync (narration aligned to word-level highlighting)\nOwn offline reading, in-app purchases, and the App Store release pipeline\nDrive the app's performance, stability, and quality\nPartner with Epic's Android engineer and the backend and web teams on shared features\nGrow into a cross-platform mobile engineer over time, ramping into Android/Kotlin to contribute across both apps\nWhat We're Looking For\nRequired Qualifications\n5+ years building and shipping native iOS apps to the App Store\nStrong Swift and UIKit, and comfort working across a mixed Swift and Objective-C codebase\nProven depth in custom UI/text rendering and/or real-time media-audio synchronization (not only stock controls)\nSolid across the iOS app lifecycle -- concurrency and thread-safety, local persistence, in-app purchase, and owning a release pipeline (CI, code signing, TestFlight/App Store)\nBachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience\nPreferred Skills\nFamiliarity with SwiftUI and Swift Concurrency (async/await)\nFamiliarity with AVCadence for audio-text sync\nExperience with encrypted media playback\nAccessibility on a consumer or kids' product -- VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, WCAG\nInterest in cross-platform mobile, and some Android / Kotlin awareness\nWhy Join Epic?\nAt Epic, you'll have the opportunity to build products that inspire millions of kids to discover the joy of reading.
