This position requires strong communication, technical and leadership skills along with the ability to collaborate with and bring together teams and people with others internally and externally.\nWork Type (Onsite/Hybrid/Remote):\nOnsite\nResponsibilities:\nBe the principal designer of the mechanical systems associated with their project(s)\nResponsible for the function and safety of the mechanical systems associated with their project(s)\nCoordinate with other members of a multi-disciplinary team\nCollaborate with global teams on projects\nAssist in the development of the scope of assigned projects\nOversee any other mechanical design work done as part of assigned projects\nCritically review mechanical system designs across the organisation with a focus on those done at EES Vancouver\nEffectively communicate and collaborate with EES\nEngineers/Managers, various people across the Epiroc Organisation,\nCustomers and other stakeholders to achieve project goals and ensure complete system integration\nIdentify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project outcomes\nPrepare and review technical documentation:Part drawings, FEA reports, Various types of design reports, FMEA Analysis’, ISO, CSA and other industry standards, etc\n\nIdentify opportunities for process and design improvement/optimization\nReview job candidate resumes, test results and attend their interviews where needed\nPlan for and execute testing and commissioning of the systems created as part of assigned projects\nOversee the integration of various systems, ensuring compatibility, efficiency, safety and reliability across the entire system\nCreating and maintaining assigned project's CAD and PLM data\nOverseeing and reviewing the creation of technical drawings and reports \nKnowledge/Education:\nBachelor’s degree or greater in an applicable engineering discipline \n5+ years of related industry experience \nPEng license\nIn-depth (industry-leading) knowledge in one or more system types such as hydraulic, controls, batteries, thermal management, power electronics etc \nCross-domain engineering skills and product prototyping knowledge, including electronic hardware design, software development, EMC compliance, and functional testing\nSubject matter expert (SME) on current and future BEV/automotive standards (OEM specific, SAE, ISO, etc)\nExperience with functional safety application design and development under IEC EN 61508\nGood understanding of hardware and software systems simulations using tools such as MATLAB and Simulink\nProficient in project management software, tools and techniques \nSkills and Abilities:\nExcellent leadership skills\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills\nLogical and methodical approach to problem-solving\nMeticulous attention to detail\nFriendly disposition.
