The position of VAS General Manager oversees daily operations of the overall facility, including paint, assembly, freight, shipping/ receiving, returns, quality and other services as needed. This position will report to the SVP of Operations and be supported by the Customer Service and Logistics team located in Spring Lake, MI and Cambridge, Canada. The General Manager will maintain an elevated level of accuracy in day-to-day operations, lead and develop the team and provide impeccable customer service to our clients. \n\nEssential Functions:\nEstablish a safety culture by following and strictly enforcing EQI’s EHS Program as well as federal, state and local rules and regulations\nMaintain environmental compliance of the facility by meeting (exceeding) local, state and federal requirements\nResponsible for profit and loss \nOversee daily operations\nCreate and implement strategies for business growth\nDevelop additional business opportunities to fully utilize the facility, staff, and equipment\nEnsure the facility operates at peak efficiency, with customer satisfaction being the primary goal, by monitoring, and managing daily operation goals\nImplement / adhere to the EQI operational systems to optimize space, equipment & resource utilization, inventory management, and COGS\nReview and prepare workflows, staffing and space requirements, and equipment layout while ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and customer service standards are met\nCreate / maintain a culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement throughout all levels of the organization\nManage staffing levels to meet operational goals\nOversee training and management of the workforce to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals\nMaintain a safe and healthy work environment by following, and enforcing the standards established in the EQI Employee Handbook while complying with all legal regulations\nMaintain ISO yearly accreditations\n\nDaily and Monthly Responsibilities:\nSupervise daily activities of the facility, including safety, quality assurance, inventory control, logistics, productivity, shipping, and customer service\nOversee the team to meet customer demands and manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency and minimize overtime\nInspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance as needed\nMeet regularly with functional managers to review, analyze, and develop actionable plans to continually optimize productivity and efficiency\n\nPosition Requirements\n15+ years of experience in leadership roles within manufacturing facilities\nProven track record of managing painting and/or light manufacturing facilities\nBachelor’s Degree in Business Management or related field from a four-year accredited college or university preferred \nProficient knowledge of financial reporting and analysis\nDemonstrated knowledge of probability, statistical quality control and design of experiments \nIn depth experience working in Continuous Improvement / Lean culture with a proven track record\nWorking knowledge of Six Sigma\nFamiliarity with customer / supplier quality standards, policies and procedures \nProficient knowledge of warehouse procedures and policy\nDemonstrated ability to investigate quality problems and to apply sound technical judgment to develop viable solutions \nDemonstrated elevated level of interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and facilitate others in group situations \nElevated level of analytical ability to assess and identify appropriate alternative courses of action for definition and resolution of problems that are unique and diverse \nWorking experience in project management\nAbility to exercise independent judgment\nAbility to effectively organize and plan \nProficient oral and written communication skills \nExperience in conducting performance evaluations\nWorking knowledge of human-resource processes\nBenefits\n\nWe offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support the well-being, growth, and success of our employees.
