The arrangements and frequency will be agreed locally.\n This vacancy is only open for applications for internal applicants from Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and Isle of Wight NHS Trust\nNHS Band 4 Salary: £28,392 - £31,157 per annum\nHours Per Week: Full time 37.5 hrs\nContract Type: Temporary for 18 months\nAn opportunity has arisen to recruit a fixed term engineer to join our Digital team in the role of IT Development engineer.\nThe ideal candidate must be able to work independently and follow the standard operating procedures for the role.\nThis roles primary tasks are to establish working relationship with third party suppliers and Trust staff in the ordering, processing and installation of endpoint IT equipment and the management of equipment being retired. The role requires previous experience of Digital Service Desk 1st line support. This ensures relevant Digital processes are understood. A knowledge of current technology and the ability to identify and source Digital equipment to meet the needs of the organisation in a cost effective and supportable manner\nSecondary tasks include:\nProviding cover for the Digital Service Desk where required\nSupports Computer room operations, carrying out daily check of data centres and back tape changes where required.\nThe successful candidate should be able to demonstrate an understanding of Software licensing especially Microsoft and Adobe\nWEEE regulations in relation to IT Hardware disposal\nSpecific Core Functions\nForming part of the IT Incident and Service Request processes, dealing with all types of queries, requests for service and incidents, ensuring a consistent approach is taken and the customer receives an efficient and responsive service.\nProvide first and second-line support service, managing tickets as required, through to resolution, ensuring all necessary information is captured and recorded to facilitate resolution of reported incidents to agreed service level agreements.\nKeep up to date with new service level agreements and processes to maintain a consistent, effective, and efficient service delivery to service users.\nEnsure IT equipment for installation is prepared and testing in accordance with IT standards and end user requirements.\nEnsure deliveries of computer equipment are correct in content and in an acceptable condition.\nProvide start up training to new users, raising awareness amongst end users of the current IT policies and procedures.\nContribute to the implementation of specific elements within approved IT development projects to meet timescale and budgetary targets.\nAssist with operational developments, deployments, desktop hardware/ software replacement programmes.\nA full UK driving license for manual vehicles is essential any applicant not meeting this criteria will not be considered. The Trust operates two vans for the transport of equipment.\nFor full job details and person specifications please refer to enclosed job description.\nEssential \nRelevant experience in relation to the job description\nIT Literate and practical experience of Windows software, e.g. Word, Excel, etc.\nApplication incident and problem management skills Understanding of NHS data standards and NHS data items.\nUnderstanding of equality and diversity issues and how this affects patients, visitors and staff.\nGood interpersonal and explanatory skills in dealing with a wide range of information technology users from skilled to IT illiterate.\nGood verbal / written communication skills, with the ability to present to small groups.\nComputer Literate and competent with Microsoft Windows and MS Office collaboration software.\nAbility to set clear and appropriate priorities, with the ability to deal with conflicting demands, unpredictable work pattern, and multiple deadlines.\nExcellent customer friendly telephone manner\nAdvanced keyboards skills\nAbility to remain calm when dealing with difficult users\nPractical understanding of NHS IT Security issues.\nDesirable\nITIL Foundation Certificate.\nKnowledge of supporting clinical applications within a healthcare setting.\nExperience of working within an NHS Digital environment\n The health and wellbeing of our staff is at the forefront of everything we do.
