In this role, you will architect, automate, and operate Akamai services supporting high-volume, business-critical applications while leveraging Infrastructure as Code, APIs, cloud technologies, and modern SRE practices.\nYou will partner with application, infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams to deliver secure, scalable, highly available edge services that improve application performance and strengthen organizational resiliency.\nLocation\nThis role will be based in our Woburn, MA office, located at 130 New Boston Street. This role offers in person collaboration and flexibility to work from home.\nWhat Part You Will Play in Our Growth\nDesign, implement, and manage enterprise-scale Akamai CDN, WAF, DNS, Edge Security, and TLS/Certificate Management solutions.\nServe as the primary technical expert for Akamai platform administration, including onboarding applications, policy management, traffic optimization, security configuration, and troubleshooting.\nConfigure, maintain, and optimize Akamai WAF policies, bot protection, rate controls, custom rules, and edge security controls.\nManage large-scale CDN delivery configurations, caching strategies, traffic routing, performance optimization, and high-availability architectures.\nAdminister and automate certificate lifecycle management, including provisioning, rotation, validation, renewals, and compliance requirements.\nDevelop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform to automate Akamai configurations and infrastructure deployments.\nBuild integrations and automation using Akamai APIs and other platform APIs to reduce manual operational activities.\nDesign and implement self-service capabilities that enable development teams to provision and manage edge platform resources securely and efficiently.\nDevelop custom tooling, services, and automation frameworks using .NET, C#, Go, Python, PowerShell, or other modern programming languages.\nEstablish and maintain SRE practices including observability, monitoring, alerting, incident management, service-level objectives (SLOs), and error budgets.\nCreate and improve CI/CD pipelines that automate testing, deployment, validation, and operational workflows.\nCollaborate with security teams to implement best practices for application protection, vulnerability mitigation, and edge security governance.\nPerform performance analysis, capacity planning, root cause analysis, and continuous reliability improvements for internet-facing applications.\nParticipate in operational support, incident response, post-incident reviews, and reliability engineering initiatives.\nProvide technical leadership and guidance for application onboarding, architecture reviews, and platform modernization efforts.\nRequired Knowledge and Skills\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or related field (or equivalent experience).\nEquivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements.\nExperience\n5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, or related roles.\n3+ years of hands-on experience managing Akamai CDN and WAF environments in large-scale enterprise organizations.\nDemonstrated experience supporting high-volume internet-facing applications and global traffic delivery platforms.\nStrong experience with Akamai Property Manager, Security Center, WAF, Edge DNS, Certificate Management, and edge delivery services.\nExperience automating infrastructure and platform management using Terraform and APIs.\nStrong understanding of modern cloud platforms, including Azure and AWS.\nExperience designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.\nStrong scripting and software development skills using one or more languages such as C#, .NET, Go, Python, PowerShell, or JavaScript.\nExperience with observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting platforms.\nStrong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for complex distributed systems.\nExperience working with Git-based source control and modern software development practices.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\nProven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across engineering, security, and application teams.\nPreferred Qualifications\nAkamai certifications and advanced experience managing enterprise-scale Akamai deployments.\nExperience with Akamai Application & API Protector, Bot Manager, EdgeWorkers, Edge DNS, Global Traffic Management (GTM), and API Security.\nExperience managing thousands of properties, domains, certificates, or WAF policies across multiple business units.\nExpertise in certificate automation and large-scale TLS management.\nExperience building developer self-service portals and automation platforms.\nStrong knowledge of Kubernetes, container platforms, and cloud-native application architectures.\nExperience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD platforms.\nExperience implementing SLOs, SLIs, reliability metrics, and operational excellence programs.\nKnowledge of networking concepts including DNS, HTTP/S, TLS, load balancing, caching, and
