You can track down a fault on your own and you know how to work safely. The plant behind it is what you already know: power distribution, standby generation, cooling, water and fire systems. The difference here is that everything runs 24/7 and there's no shutdown window.\nWe're looking for an experienced Electrician /Electrical Engineer or Mechanical Engineer to join the team as a Level IV Critical Facilities Engineer.\nWhat you'll be doing\nKeeping the plant running\nPlanned and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems, including LV distribution, standby generators, battery and backup power, chillers, pumps, air handling, water and fire suppression\nFault-finding, repairs, installations and inspections\nMonitoring the BMS, responding to alarms and fixing issues using clear procedures\nOperating critical systems alongside senior engineers, and building your authorisations as you go\nOwning the work on site\nManaging contractors from start to finish: briefing them, overseeing the work and signing it off\nWriting and following method statements, permits to work and switching procedures\nFinding weak points in the system and suggesting how to remove them\nBeing one of the first to respond when something fails\nHaving a say\nSuggesting improvements and projects\nTaking on projects and new installations\nSupporting and mentoring less experienced engineers on the team\nKeeping critical spares at the right level so the team is never caught short\nWhat you'll bring\nA trade background in electrical or mechanical engineering. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience is required, and AM2 is preferred for electrical candidates.\nHands-on maintenance experience in an environment where reliability matters, such as manufacturing, utilities, commercial buildings, transport, or the armed forces\nExperience working in the UK and knowledge of UK regulations and safe systems of work\nConfidence working on your own, using good judgement and following procedures\nExperience with permits to work and managing contractors. BMS experience is a plus.\nWillingness to work shifts and be part of an on-call rota\nData centre experience isn't required.
