The positions will suit candidates with a strong technical understanding of a mission critical environment, this is an individual contributor role and leadership skills (experience ideal but not mandatory) are required to ensure we harness a strong team culture of site safety, engineering and operational excellence and a team first environment.\nWith a team of engineers at different levels of experience and capability, the Shift Lead engineer will take ownership of their shifts, helping mentor, guide and lead junior colleagues, and play a key role supporting the site supervisor.\nThe critical facilities team works 24/7 (2 days, 7am-7pm / 2 nights, 7pm-7am and 4 days off) and the successful applicants will help alleviate SLA risk exposure, drive team capability and actively take a part in developing our site teams with the help of structure Global Ops Academy and Bronze Badging Program.\nWe have 2 x roles available and are looking to interview immediately for the positions.\n Key responsibilities:\nLeadership\nEnsure strong on-shift guidance and leadership, particularly on night hours\nReduce SLA risk exposure by guiding more junior colleague (often at entry/graduate level) during all shifts\nSupport site supervisor in building a strong and well-rounded team culture\nActively supports training and upskilling of colleague to increase team capability\nFacility / Infrastructure Maintenance\nSound understanding of critical infrastructure related to site (e.g. UPS, STS, AHU, Chillers, Cooling Towers, CRAH, CRAC)\nResolves advanced incidents and develops new procedures and techniques to support the overall team\nMonitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves alarms for complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve. Makes recommendations for new procedures to management team\nLeads and coordinates critical infrastructure operations\nConsistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues. Makes recommendations for new procedures\nVendor Support\nDirects vendors on highly skilled tasks to ensure that maintenance activities are carried out per standards and requirements\nAssists with the creation of scripts for maintenance and submits\nTracks and implements the work approval process for critical service providers (including briefing at the start of work, control of work during the day workday/shift, final review of the work carried out)\nInspects implementation changes/updates to technical files for plants and equipment (in cooperation with vendor and the supervisor's) ensuring builds are up to date\nSite Administration & Incident Support\nCompletion (develop, approve, maintain) of complex site logs and data gathering for issuing of permits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) (SOPs/EOPs) and engineering scripts\nAssists with the development, approval and maintenance of policies and procedures (MOP/SOP/EOP).\nIdentifies and escalates process discrepancies to higher management\nIdentifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and makes recommendations for new procedures\nActs as a support team lead for operating processes and procedures; supports the team on adherence\nSupports the on-site staff during critical incidents\nConfidently interpret single line diagrams (SLDs) to understand power distribution systems and support troubleshooting and operations\nResponds to all on-site incidents, including major failures, significant problems and delays and escalates when required\nAssists with RCA (Root Cause Analysis)\nAssists management with maintaining technical documents\nCollaboration\nCollaborates with others to resolve highly difficult facility incidents; identifies and understands underlying issues\nAct as a support team lead when identifying component level faults and provides recommendations for new procedures\nUtilizes resources outside of the department, as necessary\nAdvises on inventory needs to maintain optimal stock levels of critical parts and equipment\nAdvises other team members on repairs and preventative maintenance\nActs as a support team lead on implementing highly skilled, complex projects\nQualifications, key skills and attributes\nTrade Certified or bachelor’s degree in related Engineering field\nStrong leadership capability, and desire to mentor developing engineers\nAspirations and competency to move into supervisory, or specialist engineering positions within the business (with SY10 opportunities a likely progression pathway)\nCommitment to site safety and compliance\nAvailability to work in a 24/7 environment (4 on 4 off)\nDevelop, approve and maintain policies and procedures (MOP/SOP/EOP)\nBenefits of the role:\nFuture growth opportunities as specialist engineer or supervisor at SY9/10 or across our Equinix portfolio\nSalary package including shares, annual performance bonus, shift and health allowance\nAccess to EV chargers, site gyms, wellness, financial and company benefits\nClose collaboration with SY9 leadership team, giving you opportunity for stretch targets and professional development\nStructured training to drive your capability through onsite, onboarding plan and our Global Ops Academy\nEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
