This role requires fluent English and good French proficiency would be an advantage.\nOur business is Data Centers but we are open to all Mission Critical Environments! As a Specialist Engineer, you will serve as a technical authority responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, maintainability, efficiency and safe operation of the site's critical infrastructure systems. You will provide specialist engineering guidance, oversee maintenance and operational activities, lead technical investigations, support infrastructure improvements, and help drive engineering excellence across the data centre.\nThis is a highly technical role suited to an experienced engineer with great stakeholder management and strategic thinking skills. Do you enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges, driving continuous improvement, and acting as a trusted technical expert within a mission-critical environment.\nCritical Infrastructure Expertise\nYour responsibilities will span the full lifecycle of mission-critical infrastructure, including:\nElectrical generation and distribution systems\nCooling, ventilation and environmental control systems\nFire detection, suppression and life safety systems\n Building Management Systems (BMS), monitoring and control platforms\nPhysical security, access control and critical facility systems\nAsset lifecycle management, maintenance strategy and operational resilience\nInfrastructure capacity planning, optimisation and technical governance\nThe primary objective of the role is to ensure uninterrupted service delivery through expert stewardship of critical infrastructure while continuously improving reliability, efficiency, resilience and operational performance.\nKey Responsibilities\nTechnical Leadership & Infrastructure Reliability\nAct as the technical authority and subject matter expert for critical facility infrastructure.\nProvide engineering leadership and guidance to operations, maintenance and project teams.\nLead complex technical investigations, root cause analysis and incident response activities.\nDrive engineering improvements that enhance reliability, availability, resilience and performance.\nEnsure infrastructure operations align with industry best practice, regulatory requirements and Equinix standards.\nOperations, Maintenance & Service Continuity\nDevelop and optimise preventative, predictive and reliability-centred maintenance strategies.\nGovern maintenance programmes, asset health and lifecycle planning for critical infrastructure.\nOversee maintenance activities, contractor delivery, isolations and risk management processes.\nOwn and govern BMS, monitoring platforms, alarm management and critical spares strategies.\nSupport compliance, audits and technical assurance activities across the facility.\nCapacity Planning, Projects & Continuous Improvement\nMonitor infrastructure utilisation and capacity, assessing future growth requirements and operational risks.\nProvide technical leadership for infrastructure upgrades, expansions and capital investment initiatives.\nLead energy efficiency, sustainability and operational optimisation programmes.\nSupport business planning, budgeting, KPI development and long-term asset management strategies.\nAbout You\nYou will ideally possess:\nA qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.\nSignificant experience within data centres, critical facilities, utilities, industrial environments or other mission-critical operations.\nDeep technical expertise across electrical and/or mechanical infrastructure systems.\nStrong knowledge of reliability engineering, maintenance strategy, resilience and operational risk management.\nA proven ability to solve complex technical problems and lead investigations into critical infrastructure issues.\nExcellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence engineering teams, contractors and senior leaders.\nExperience working within structured technical governance, engineering standards and operational frameworks.\nA proactive, continuous improvement mindset with a strong focus on operational excellence.\nDesirable Technical Experience\nChilled water
