This role is responsible for driving API-first architecture, enabling secure and scalable integrations, and delivering highly available API management and integration platforms that power critical business capabilities across Equinix.\nThe ideal candidate will have deep expertise in API management platforms such as Apigee, enterprise integration technologies, cloud-native architectures, event-driven systems, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices. This role requires a combination of technical leadership, platform ownership, operational excellence, vendor management, and people leadership.\nResponsibilities\nOwn the vision, roadmap, and strategy for Equinix's API Gateway and Integration Platforms\nDrive enterprise-wide API management, integration, and platform engineering standards\nChampion API-first and event-driven architecture practices across engineering teams\nAlign platform capabilities with business priorities through strong collaboration with business and technology leaders\nLead platform modernization initiatives supporting digital transformation objectives\nOwn and operate enterprise API Gateway platforms, including Apigee and related API management technologies\nEstablish standards for the complete API lifecycle, including design, security, publishing, versioning, monetization, and retirement\nEnsure API platforms meet scalability, reliability, performance, and security requirements\nAccelerate adoption of reusable APIs and self-service developer capabilities\nLead enterprise integration platforms such as Boomi, Workato etc., enabling application, cloud, SaaS, B2B, and partner integrations\nDrive modernization from legacy middleware and point-to-point integrations to cloud-native integration platforms and event-driven architectures\nDefine integration standards leveraging REST APIs, event streaming, messaging, and asynchronous communication patterns\nBuild reusable integration services, connectors, and shared platform capabilities\nEstablish operational excellence through SLAs, SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, and SRE best practices\nLead production support, incident management, problem management, and platform reliability programs\nImplement comprehensive observability, monitoring, alerting, automation, and self-healing capabilities\nDefine governance, security, compliance, and onboarding standards for APIs and integrations\nDrive cloud-native platform engineering using Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, GitOps, and multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, and GCP)\nEnsure resilient disaster recovery, business continuity, and audit readiness, including SOX compliance\nBuild and develop high-performing teams of API, Integration, Boomi, DevOps, and Platform Engineers while fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and continuous improvement\nQualifications\nBachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field\n12+ years of experience in software engineering, integration engineering, platform engineering, or enterprise architecture\n4+ years of leadership experience managing high-performing engineering teams\nDeep experience operating enterprise API Gateway platforms such as: Apigee Kong NGINX API Gateway MuleSoft API Manager Azure API Management\nExperience with: Terraform GitHub Actions ArgoCD Datadog Prometheus Grafana Splunk\nStrong experience with enterprise integration platforms (like Boomi, Workato etc.) and integration architecture\nProven experience building and operating large-scale, highly available production platforms\nExperience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, and GCP\nExperience implementing Kubernetes-based platforms\nStrong understanding of API security and governance frameworks\nExperience with Internal Developer Platforms (IDP) and Platform Engineering practices\nStrong understanding of FinOps and cloud cost optimization\nExperience managing vendor relationships, budgets, and platform roadmaps\nEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
