The Digital Interconnection (DIGIN) SRE team keeps the platforms behind our digital interconnection products reliable, secure and observable. These include Fabric, Internet Access, Application Connect and our MCP servers. Our engineers are spread across the US, Europe and Asia and provide 24×7 coverage for critical services.\nWe are growing our team in India. You will help shape how we build and operate it.\nThe role\nAs a Staff SRE, you will be a technical contributor on the Digital Interconnection SRE team. You will perform DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering by setting reliability standards, lead complex designs and incident response for the applications and the infrastructure it runs on. You will work with product engineering, platform infrastructure and operations teams to make our services dependable, self-service and easy to observe.\nWhat you will do\nDefine and run SLOs, SLIs and error budgets, and drive reliability improvements from the data.\nLead incident response for P0/P1 events, run blameless post-incident reviews, and follow up on corrective actions.\nDesign, build and operate Kubernetes platforms on AWS and on bare metal servers, including cluster lifecycle, upgrades and capacity planning.\nBuild and improve CI/CD and GitOps pipelines (GitHub Actions, Argo CD) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible).\nExtend our observability stack (Grafana Cloud, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Loki, Tempo) from services down to the hardware layer.\nAutomate repetitive operational work, including with AI-assisted tooling such as our SRE Bot and MCP servers.\nLead production readiness reviews, resilience and chaos testing, and disaster recovery exercises.\nPartner on security and compliance practices such as secrets management (Vault), image and dependency scanning, and identity and access.\nSupport and guide developers and contribute to the team’s technical direction.\nWhat you bring\n5+ years in SRE, DevOps or infrastructure engineering, with demonstrated technical leadership.\nDeep, hands-on Kubernetes experience in production, including cluster operations, networking and troubleshooting.\nStrong coding or scripting skills in at least one of Python, Go or Java, plus Bash.\nExperience with infrastructure as code, CI/CD and GitOps (for example Terraform, Ansible, GitHub Actions, Argo CD).\nStrong observability skills: metrics, logs and traces, SLO-based alerting, and dashboards.\nExperience running 24×7 production services, including on-call and incident command.\nSolid grounding in Linux, networking (L2/L3, load balancing, service mesh) and cloud platforms, preferably AWS.\nClear written and verbal communication, and comfort working across time zones.\nNice to have\nIstio or another service mesh, Rancher, kube-vip or similar HA tooling.\nExperience operating infrastructure across geographically distributed sites.\nExperience with Kafka, Cassandra, Temporal, Postgres or AuroraDB.\nChaos engineering experience and multi-region or active-active designs.\nExperience applying AI or LLM tooling to operations and incident triage.\nWhy join us\nWork on infrastructure and applications that underpins global digital interconnection.\nOwn meaningful technical problems, from bare metal to the various distributed systems involved that manage the application layer.\nJoin a collaborative, global team that values blameless learning, automation and clear communication.\nCompetitive compensation and benefits, and room to grow.\nEquinix is committed to ensuring that our employment process is open to all individuals, including those with a disability.
