Equinox specializes in oil and gas processing facilities, including natural gas, sweet and sour gas, conventional and heavy oil, and pipeline projects, supporting major producers in Canada and worldwide.\nSummary:\nThe Department Lead - Mechanical Engineering, will lead mechanical engineering activities across EPCM oil and gas, energy and industrial projects. The role oversees Static Equipment, Rotating Equipment and Mechanical Package Engineering teams, ensuring technical quality, compliance with client specifications and applicable codes, and timely delivery. The incumbent will coordinate with global engineering teams, Project Management, clients, Procurement and vendors, while managing resources, technical reviews, recruitment and team development.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Department Leadership\nPlan, direct and manage mechanical engineering activities across assigned projects.\nLead Static Equipment, Rotating Equipment and Mechanical Package Engineering teams; set priorities, execution plans, resource requirements and deliverable schedules.\nProvide technical guidance and promote consistent engineering practices, quality and project execution.\nCoordinate with global engineering teams and Project Management to align resources, priorities and project expectations.\n2. Mechanical Engineering Deliverables\nOversee Mechanical Equipment Lists, Material Requisitions/Specifications, Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), equipment data sheets, technical specifications and vendor document reviews.\nEnsure deliverables meet client/project specifications, contractual obligations, applicable codes and international standards.\nProvide oversight for pressure vessels, storage tanks, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers and other mechanical packages.\nEnsure technical coordination across Static, Rotating and Package Engineering and with other disciplines.\n3. Technical & Vendor Management\nOversee technical evaluation of vendor offers, deviations and exceptions against project requirements.\nReview vendor documents, drawings and calculations for technical accuracy and compliance.\nCoordinate with Procurement, vendors, inspection agencies and project teams to resolve technical queries and secure timely approvals.\nSupport client/vendor technical discussions and promote standardization, value engineering and cost-effective equipment selection without compromising quality or safety.\n4. Client & Project Coordination\nServe as the key interface between the Mechanical Engineering Department, global engineering teams and Project Management.\nManage client requirements, technical expectations, priorities and deliverable commitments.\nParticipate in project reviews, technical meetings and client discussions.\nIdentify engineering risks, resource constraints and potential schedule delays; implement mitigation plans to achieve project milestones.\n5. Codes, Standards & Quality\nEnsure compliance with applicable international codes, standards, client specifications and project quality requirements.\nMaintain working knowledge of relevant ASME, API and CSA standards, as applicable to project scope.\nEnsure appropriate application of ASME Section VIII and API 610, API 617 and API 618 for relevant equipment.\nSupport quality reviews, technical audits, closure of engineering comments and continuous improvement; incorporate lessons learned and best practices.\n6. Resource Planning & People Management\nDevelop manpower plans based on project workload, delivery schedules and business requirements.\nCoordinate recruitment and conduct technical/competency-based interviews for engineering positions.\nAllocate resources across projects and monitor workload, productivity and deliverable quality.\nConduct performance reviews, identify training needs, mentor engineers and support succession planning and professional development.\nSkills, Knowledge and Expertise\nQualifications & Experience\n\nBachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.\n15+ years of mechanical engineering experience in EPC/EPCM, Oil & Gas, energy, petrochemical, refinery or related industrial projects.\nDemonstrated experience leading engineering teams and coordinating mechanical deliverables across multiple projects.\nStrong technical exposure to Static Equipment, Rotating Equipment and Mechanical Packages.\nExperience with Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations, equipment specifications and vendor document reviews.\nGood knowledge of applicable international codes and standards, including ASME, API\nExperience coordinating with global engineering teams, Project Management, clients, Procurement and vendors.\nExperience in manpower planning, technical interviews, performance management and team development.\nExposure to North American and
