This hands-on role will build and continuously evolve the data platform, business applications, and integration tools. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our data strategy; ensuring scalability, reliability and secure solutions. The ideal candidate is going to be a hands-on engineer, with strong knowledge of AWS Products to help build out data pipelines, create jobs, manage the quality of the data warehouse and integrated tools.\nThis is a hybrid-role located in our NYC office. You will be in office 4X a week.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nDesign, implement, and maintain scalable data architecture, pipelines and modeling strategies that power our enterprise data warehouse on AWS\nBuild and manage data models and schemas in Redshift and other data technologies, enabling self-service analytics\nMonitor, optimize, and troubleshoot data jobs, ensuring high availability and performance of data infrastructure\nImplement data quality checks, validation rules, and alerting mechanisms to ensure trust in data\nLeverage AWS services like Glue, Lambda, S3, Athena, and EMR to build modular, reusable data solutions\nPartner with Data Science, Analytics, and Business teams to understand data needs, prioritize use cases, and deliver reliable datasets and models\nDrive improvements in data lineage, cataloging, and documentation to ensure transparency and reusability of data assets\nCreate and maintain technical documentation and version-controlled workflows (e.g., Git, dbt)\nContribute to and promote a culture of continuous improvement, mentoring peers and advocating for scalable and modern data practices\nParticipate in sprint planning, code reviews, and team retrospectives as part of an Agile development process\nPromote reusable patterns, modular designs, and automation where possible to ensure long-term scalability\nStay current on industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and automation\n 6+ years of experience in software/data engineering, with a proven track record of building robust data systems (prior leadership or mentorship experience is a plus)\nExpertise in designing and implementing enterprise data warehouses, including star schemas and dimensional modeling techniques\nExpert in SQL, with ability to write complex queries, optimize performance, and work across large datasets; python proficiency is a strong plus\nHands-on experience with AWS data ecosystem including Redshift, S3, Glue, Athena, EMR, EC2, DynamoDB, Lambda, and Redis\nFamiliarity with dbt Labs and modern ELT/analytics engineering practices\nExperience working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data\nKnowledge of data governance, quality assurance, and observability tools to ensure data integrity and trust\nProficiency in creating technical documentation, SOPs, and maintaining clear communication with cross-functional teams\nA problem-solving mindset, with the ability to take ownership and drive solutions from design to deployment\nPay Transparency: $145k - $160k\n AS A MEMBER OF THE EQUINOX TEAM YOU WILL RECEIVE:\nWe offer competitive salary, benefits, and industry leading commission opportunities for club employees \nComplimentary Club membership \nPerks and incentives with our products and services including Personal Training, Pilates, Spa and Shop \nNOTE: This job description is intended to describe the general requirements for the position.
