We accomplish this through an intense commitment to safety, quality service, excellence, and partnerships.\n Summary\nResponsible for operating vehicles for the purpose of transporting passengers and assisting with custodial\nmaintenance functions of the vehicle as required. Works with Safety/Security team to help ensure the\nsecurity and safety of students and staff, buildings, vehicles, and property by checking persons, center\ngrounds, doors, windows, lighting, appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency equipment. Performs\nguard and administrative duties to assist in the protection of life and property against theft, misappropriation,\nfire, flood, or similar disaster.\nEssential Functions\n1. Drives center vehicles.\n2. Maintains center vehicles in a clean and safe manner.\n3. Performs accurate and timely recording and reporting.\n4. Transport non-residential students to and from the center, when necessary.\n5. Transports students to and from work-based learning (WBL) and off-center training, activities, and\nmedical/dental appointments.\n6. Transports students to and from the center’s designated arrival point using government-paid\ntransportation.\n7. Tests fire and intrusion alarms; reports malfunctions.\n8. Conducts search and seizures in dormitory as needed by Safety/Security Department.\n9. Confiscate contraband, weapons, etc., and deliver confiscated items to the Safety/Security\nManager for proper disposal.\n10. Assists the Center staff and law officers in controlling disturbances; investigates and prepares\nreports as needed.\n11. Transports students on a scheduled or emergency basis.\n12. Assists in transporting ill and/or injured students, staff, or others requiring medical attention.\n13. Prepare any related motor vehicle reports.\n14. Maintains student accountability in accordance with accountability policy and procedures.\n15. Inform staff and students of unsafe practices and conditions.\n16. Provides security gate/desk coverage when not operating vehicle; ensures that proper check-out\nand check-in procedures are followed and properly documented.\n17. Performs enforcement duties in accordance with federal law, state statutes, and center rules and\nregulations to maintain the peace and safety of students and staff.\n18. Patrols buildings and grounds to ensure the safety and physical security of buildings and property\nby checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks, and emergency\nequipment.\n19. Maintains a log of vehicle-related findings and corrective actions taken.\n20. Checks identification of personnel seeking entrance to or exit from the grounds and permits or\ndenies entrance or exit according to established policies and procedures.\n21. Responds to fire alarms, takes necessary steps to report fires, assists in suppressing fires, and\nresets alarm equipment.\n22. Sets up and checks operation of intrusion alarm systems in buildings as required.\n23. Acts as a responsible custodian for the assigned center property.\n26. Reports violations of unethical behavior.\n27. Suggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and a reduction of waste.\n28. Identifies and reports on environmental health and safety concerns.\n29.
