We accomplish this through an intense commitment to safety, quality service, excellence, and partnerships.\n The Student WBL/ Cook Helper position provides support for a U.S Department of Labor Job Corps contractor. The Job Corps program is a federally-funded residential training program. The mission of Job Corps is to provide career-based technical and academic training and job placement assistance to program eligible youth ages 16-24.\nSummary of Duties: The Student WBL/ Cook Helper position is responsible for assisting in coordinating meal preparation, assisting with kitchen and cafeteria activities, and maintains a clean and safe environment.\nDescription of Duties:\nAssist in the preparation and serving of appetizing, attractive, and nutritional meals for trainees.\n\nHelps prepare food in accordance with planned menu.\n\nAssists in preparing food in large quantities in accordance with defined specific tasks or standard operating procedures (SOPs).\n\nEnsures proper storage of usable and non-usable leftovers.\n\nEnsures the maintenance and proper temperature for both hot and cold food items.\n\nMaintains acceptable standards of personal and area cleanliness when handling and preparing meals.\n\nKeeps assigned work areas well organized and clean.\n\nCleans, mops, and empties waste when assigned or as needed. Handles food in a sanitary manner, including receipt, preparation and storage.\n\nMaintains food temperature records.\n\nMaintains equipment logs.\n\nPrepares monthly inventories. Records usage of leftovers.\n\nMaintains daily usage logs.\n\nRecords number of meals served at each mealtime and documents number of staff and visitors.\n\nAssures proper equipment use and maintenance.\n\nUses food service equipment including meat slicer, blender, food processor, mixer, ovens, grill, knives and other items as necessary.\n\nCleans, sanitizes, and ensures equipment is maintained in good working order. Notifies supervisor when repairs or replacements are needed.\n\nMaintains a safe work environment.\n\nDevelops Others: Establishes high level of mutual trust and support with others. Expresses positive expectations of others, even in difficult situations. Creates a learning atmosphere. Reassures and encourages performance improvement. Provides timely coaching. Identifies successes and areas of improvement. Participates on a center committee.\nTeamwork: Builds pride and commitment though effective teamwork and collaboration. Adheres to established company policies and procedures and supports all programs. Makes effective use of time, materials and resources by planning, scheduling and organizing work.
