It listens, it speaks, it lives in someone's ears or on their body or in their home. That intimacy only works if it's built on trust: the user has to know who they are to Era, the device has to know it's really talking to Era's cloud, and every interaction has to be safe across wildly different brand contexts and demographics.\nYou own that trust layer end-to-end. That means identity and authentication across a fleet of physical devices and the consumer app, and it means the moderation and safety systems that keep every experience appropriate, protected, and abuse-resistant. You sit between infrastructure and AI, and you're the person who makes sure Era is something people can trust with their lives.\nWhat You'll Do\nOwn Era's identity platform - authentication, authorization, session management, and device identity across the consumer app and a growing fleet of physical devices (Ory, Auth0, or custom)\nBuild the trust fabric - how a user proves who they are across every device they own, how each device proves who it is to the cloud, and how permissions and consent flow across the ecosystem\nDesign and operate content moderation systems - real-time safety guardrails that protect users and partners across different brand contexts, age groups, and demographics\nBuild safety frameworks for AI interactions - content filtering, demographic-aware moderation, age-appropriate experiences, and configurable guardrails per partner\nAdversarial-test the platform - prompt injection, jailbreaking, account takeover, and the abuse vectors that emerge when real users interact with physical devices in unpredictable environments\nHandle sensitive data responsibly - encryption, PII handling, consent management, and data retention across jurisdictions\nWork with third-party software vendors and service providers to allow their API/SDK/MCP endpoints to be securely called and run on Era’s Core platform.\nBuild real-time detection and response - systems that catch harmful content, abuse, and safety incidents across thousands of active devices and act on them fast\nPartner with brand partners on their trust & safety requirements, from COPPA to GDPR to the EU AI Act\nWhat We're Looking For\nProduction experience building identity/auth systems - OAuth/OIDC, session management, SSO, or device identity (Ory, Auth0, or equivalent)\nBackground in trust & safety or content moderation at a consumer-facing platform\nStrong programming skills across Python and TypeScript\nReal understanding of AI safety and responsible deployment - content guardrails, demographic-aware moderation, red-teaming\nYou think adversarially. You anticipate how systems get abused before they do, and you design for the worst case\nFamiliarity with compliance frameworks relevant to consumer devices and AI (COPPA, GDPR, EU AI Act)\nYou care about protecting people. These are real users on real devices, and the stakes are real\nNice to Have\nExperience with real-time moderation of audio/voice systems\nBackground scaling identity or trust infrastructure to 100k+ users or devices\nPrivacy-preserving techniques - encryption, differential privacy, on-device processing\nAbuse detection, anomaly detection, or fraud systems experience\nRed-teaming or adversarial ML experience\nYou at Era\nMost trust & safety work is bolted on after the fact. Here, you get to design it into the foundation of a brand-new device category, before millions of people are relying on it.
