This role is critical to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient steam and heating operations in compliance with applicable codes, safety standards, and client requirements. This full-time position is at the Naval Support Facility (NSF) Indian Head. Indian Head, Maryland, is approximately 30 miles from Washington, D.C., 25 miles from Alexandria, Virginia, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, Virginia. \nJob Description:\nOperate, monitor, and maintain boiler systems, including associated pumps, valves, piping, and control systems\nPerform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance to ensure boilers operate safely and efficiently\nTroubleshoot, diagnose, and repair boiler and auxiliary system issues\nEnsure plant operations comply with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations, as well as site-specific safety requirements\nCoordinate with maintenance teams, supervisors, and facility staff to support overall plant operations\nQualifications and Skills:\nAt least 2 years of HVAC experience\nHigh school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field is preferred\nExperience working in federal or government facilities is preferred\nValid boiler operator or boiler technician certification/license, as required by the state or facility\nStrong working knowledge of boiler operations, controls, and safety systems\nAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and operating procedures\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nThis position will require a pre-employment physical exam\nThis position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds\nWork may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals)\nYou may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs\nMust be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and reach during shifts\nMust be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items \nMust be able to safely climb and descend ladders, stairways, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms and perform work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet\nMust be able to perform work above shoulder level, including reaching, lifting, and manipulating tools and materials overhead\nMust currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance\nMust be a U.S. citizen, as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations\nEmployees must maintain the ability to safely perform these essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, as a condition of employment.
