In this role you will perform HVAC control systems installation, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks related to mechanical, electrical, and low-voltage controls. The ideal candidate should be capable of scoping, estimating, and planning for minor HVAC repair projects and must be motivated with the skills to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.\nThis position is full-time onsite at NSF Indian Head, MD, and will include interaction and support from ERG personnel at the federal site, as well as from ERG’s Fairfax and Arlington offices. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC, 25 miles from Alexandria, VA, and 60 miles from Fredericksburg, VA.\nJob Description:\nSupport the full life cycle of small-scale projects from initial concept design through project completion \nPerform routine maintenance tasks on facilities and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, digital controls, and other mechanical systems \nTroubleshoot and diagnose problems with facilities and equipment, and repair or replace defective parts as needed \nRespond to emergency maintenance requests \nConduct site visits to document existing facility conditions and develop new requirements \nPrepare technical memoranda/reports to document facility conditions and project status \nEnsure that all facilities follow applicable codes and regulations \nMaintain accurate records related to maintenance activities and administrative tasks, including work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment inventory, and time sheets \nQualifications and Skills:\nMinimum of 5 years of experience without a license or certification OR 2 years of experience if licensed/certified \nHigh school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field preferred \nAbility to read and interpret schematic drawings and digital graphic logic \nEnvironmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigerant Reclamation and Recovery Certification \nStrong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical systems \nExperience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) required \nFamiliarity with state and local building codes and OSHA regulations a plus \nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills \nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills \nAbility to work independently and as part of a team \nThis position will require a pre-employment physical exam\nThis position requires lifting objects weighing up to 100 pounds\nWork may be performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g., fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals)\nYou may be required to participate in medical surveillance programs\nMust be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and reach during shifts\nMust be able to use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items\nMust be able to safely climb and descend ladders, stairways, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms and perform work at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet\nMust be able to perform work above shoulder level, including reaching, lifting, and manipulating tools and materials overhead\nMust currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance\nMust be a U.S. citizen, as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations\nEmployees must maintain the ability to safely perform these essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, as a condition of employment.
